Why Doesn't the Forest Service Just....

Ever heard the rumor about not reporting fires until 4:30 pm when your shift ends at 5:00? That way, you can collect hazard pay for the day, and still not have to go out to the fire? And yes, firefighting is a HUGE business.

Yes, I'm afraid I do have some knowledge of this particular event. I know the gentleman who ran that crew that was not called upon. He will not speak up, as he has a wife and children and does not want to be un-employed. His question is, however, vexing.
