advice on best cooler for OC Athlon64 3000+

My wife's 754 3000+ runs great at 2.5GHz with XP-120 and 120mm fan. Antec 480 PSU, DFI board, OCZ RAM at 1:1.

NT 4 Server install

I don't think you can install from a harddrive to the same harddrive. You might try making the floppies and starting the installation from them. Can you get access to the original installation CD?

HSF Question...

I've used Alpha heatsinks on a multitude of aggressively overclocked systems with very satisfactory results, to include this P4-2.6C running very stable at FSB 266 on an IS-7. I will agree that some of the newer devices are likely better.

Abit IS7-E Temp and CPU Volt Problem

Abit board temps always seem to read high, especially the IS-7. And their volts always read low. Don't worry; your readings are just fine. Abit says that temps to 90 are OK. I've seen 77 running two instances of Prime 95 without errors. I don't get any benefit giving my CPU much more than...

Copying to new hard drive: possible to maintain OS install?

I used Copy Commander 7.05 to ghost from my Promise (Ultra 66 modded) RAID 0 to onboard SATA RAID 0. I didn't care for how it automatically partitioned the SATA array, but it otherwise worked OK.

Linux and HT , whose runnning this combo ?

Mandrake 9.2 recognizes two processors on my IS-7. I don't know if it makes much difference; I haven't tested it with any CPU-intensive tasks.

Urinal Mint, It's the luck of the draw, and some are better than others. Do you have good cooling with lots of airflow? Do you have a good power supply? Are you pushing your RAM too hard and need to drop the CPU:MEM ratio or change the latency? Did you boost your vCore (not to mention vDimm)...

You should choose the processor based on your RAM capabilities. I'm very happy with a 2.6C on IS-7, running FSB 266, 5:4, Corsair XMS 3500 (DDR428) 2-7-3-3. Those are the most stable settings, but can run at FSB 280, 2-6-2-2. Beware that ABIT boards read voltages low and temps high. D1...

Mandrake 9.2 and IS-7 3Com Gigabit

Has anyone installed the 3Com drivers in Mandrake 9.2? The instructions that come with the drivers don't seem to apply to Mandrake as well as to Suse. I'm a bit of a noob at Linux, but I can find my way around and can run command line instructions. Thanks.

Need Scanner Recommendation for Win NT

If you have Service Pack 6 for NT, you will probably be able to run a USB scanner. You might want to do a little search among the different manufacturers to see which ones make drivers for NT. I've used Microtek SCSI scanners with NT and have been disappointed, but that's only my experience.

I just got 2.6c and a is7 motherboard- NEED RAM

I've got a 2.6C on IS-7 running at 266-275 FSB using Corsair PC3500, 256x2, 5:4, 2-6-2-2. You probably can, too.

hyperthreading on windows 2000 pro

If you're running Win2K, use hyperthreading if you run multiple instances of very heavy CPU-intensive applications like video encoding; it can make a big difference. However, with routine business applications and even benchmarks, Win2K with hyperthreading is slower. My personal experience...

9500 Pro for $115, inlcuding tax?

My 9500 Pro is flashed and overclocked to 9700 Pro speeds. Runs great, but had problems with Catalyst drivers before version 3.6. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Lots of people posted very favorable results with the Omega drivers, but they didn't work well for me.

How do you know when you've hit a wall in oc'ing a 9500np to 9700pro?

My ATI 9500 Pro runs 346.5/369 using Cat 3.6 drivers. Tried the Omega drivers, but they didn't work well. Haven't tried 3.7. Are they worth the effort?

Ati 9500pro with 9700pro bios how well does it work?

I've seen 3DMark01 scores in excess of 17000 with my overclocked 9500 pro, CPU at 3.5GHz, using standard ATI Catalyst 3.6 drivers. That's comparable to 9700np, and sometimes as good as a 9700 pro.

"Dynamic Disks" in W2K/W2KS; why would I want to do this?
