Hardware error on bootup and then intermittently

Couldn't find this one on the Microsoft site....maybe one of you can suggest something - this is a new Dell Optiplex: "The Specified I/O operation on\Device\Harddisk1\DR2 was not completed before the time-out period expired" Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stuck on WinXP splash screen during bootup

What is the file ext for the address book in Outlook?

So then if i find a .pab file on my work server (home directory), copy it and bring it home....i can just install on my home p/c and it will come up in my contacts and/or address book listing? Also, where do i install locally? Thanks in advance.

Roxio keeps trying to install

On my neighbor's p/c, after he logs into his profile everything comes up fine, except that the window installer keeps launching trying to install Roxio. It never finishes and can be closed by hitting ' cancel ', but then it will arbitrarily reappear and try again, and again. Where do I find...

Have a new PC....want to migrate from old PC

Or is there a better way to move my stuff from the old to the new? Don't need the application files....just Outlook mail, contacts, etc. plus Word docs, Excel docs, etc. Of course this is WinXP I'm talking about. Also, both machines are currently on the home network and visible to each other.

Cleaned infected p/c - now won't boot into Windows

I can get to that point from the CD (BTW....CD is from another model Dell - not sure if that matters). However, it's prompting me for a 'admin password'....this is my sister and bro-in-law's family p/c...naturally they don't know the password. Any way to get around this?

Ok....so this is what I had: p/c would take forever to boot into windows and sometimes the taskbar wouldn't even load. If it reached the desktop couldn't open anything - no response, just hung there. This is what I did: Used bootable CD (BART)with AV and latest signatures - cleaned...

Need to slave a SATA drive

I need to clean up a Seagate 80GB SATA HD but I noticed there are no additional connections on the cable like the old IDE ribbon cables of the old days. Is it possible to find one of these? .....or is there a different way to slave this type of drive so that I can run AV on it through my good...

You're right.....I thought about computer help but figured it might be something more complicated given the steps I took after slaving it to another drive....thought maybe I somehow 'cleaned' out the boot sector or something. Anyway......found that I must have inadvertently damaged the ribbon...

AV360 legit?

Well thank you EVERYONE. Seems like malewarebytes did the trick with the AV360. Once that was out of the way I was able to install several other utilities to clean-up and tidy-up (i.e. Advanced System Care). Oddly though, the on-board ethernet controller would not allow a wired connection...

My further research confirms that Malwarebytes might be the answer. Can anyone point me to a legit link for an install? Is it free? I'm afraid to just Google it in case I then get directed to a bogus site. Will post results after I finish......seems this virus/malware is somewhat common too.

AV360 legit?

Working on a neighbor's Dell Dimension 3000. Already removed 12 viruses by slaving the drive but splash screens for AV360 keep loading with Windows (?) I'm pretty confident this is a BS app.....but can't seem to suppress or remove it. Any suggestions? P.S. trying to avoid bulldozing the OS.

Compaq Presario 6000 - need to slave the drive

Thanks for the info. Tried the safe mode approach but it sees an install coming and halts any attempt with some error messages. Would normally have just blown away the OS except they're trying to recover some data too.

Embedded Pictures No longer display in Email
