What type of oil you put in your vehicle and why?

Amsoil, Signature Series oils - at the weights specified by Mazda, for a 2011 Speed3 and a 2010 CX-9 - have used Amsoil for many many years, going 15,000 miles between changes for the Speed3 and 20,000+ for the CX-9. As a dealer, they cost around $8.00 per quart, which is a small price to pay...

Time Capsule or NAS?

Time Machine - for the MacBook Air (two Time Machine SSD backup drives in USB portable enclosures - one for home, the other for business travel) and iMac (plugged in 24/7, also a USB portable enclosure). I like the peace of mind of having complete re-install images handy and portable.

Collection of old CPUs - any uses?

thanks all for the input - the Phenom was a 9750, had lots of bent pins, and I've decided to make a bit of art using the chips, 20 shiny reflective platters that I've harvested from old spinners,and some DDR2 sticks...a mobile for my office is in the works.

Collection of old CPUs - any uses?

Inherited iPhone 4

my daughter (12) has my old iPhone4 and iOS7 runs just fine on it. Plug it into your computer,fore up iTunes and reset/update it and you should be good.

I'm in the middle of nowhere and my MBP is dead.

did you bring your Time Machine backup drive with you? If so, and if it is the same size/form factor, try to swap it out for the faulty drive.

Iphone 5 overheating

Try a vent-mounted phone holder for car use - I use GPS & stream music or mlb.com all of the time, while driving, have never gotten the overheat message.

How do I transfer pictures/files from my iphone to my computer?

Assuming a PC here? just connect the phone to the PB via USB and them look for the phone via start menu -> computer -> Potable device -> open it up & grab what you want.

Voice Memo Transfer

Does anyone know of a way to transfer a complete, longish (43 minute) voice memo from an iPhone5 to a MBA...without editing it down to smaller segments? Thanks for any insights & for your consideration.

Anyone else here installed a clear bra?

the pre-cut film is the only way to go...I have installed it in a civic, a CX-9 & a Mazdaspeed3...take your time and follow the directions.

How does Verizon LTE compare to AT&T 4G?

have you been to an apple store? do you have applecare? likely it will cost $150 - $200 via apple. try googling iphone4 screen replacement, if you live in an urban area there will be someone who has a business offering that service. good luck.

Finally drove an MS3

I get 29.5 to 32 MPG on the highway (60mph - 80mph) having moderate fun on the on- & off-ramps and uphill sprints...around town never less than 24.5 to 26 MPG...in a 2010 MS3. Great car...

So I wrote an e-mail to Tim Cook... **WITH RESPONSE (not from Tim Cook)**

You can't purchase items with a serial number that need to be registered, like computers, phones etc...via the apple store app...only peripherals like cases, mice, keyboards, speakers ...

Best way to clone and upgrade a 2011 MBP to SSD?

I've done the same thing...with a mid-2009 MBP, it's quite easy. Used carbon copy cloner...to make a replica of the OEM HDD drive and copied it to an external drive. Then removed the OEM drive, replaced it with the SSD, and restarted while holding the option key down and selected the external...

The 15,000 mile oil change...

Same here...keep it topped up and 15K is fine with Amsoil Signature Series oil and an Amsoil filter.

iMac (2010) dying?

Not a big problem - I've had that happen to my MacBook Pro...after installing an update ...if you can take it to an apple store they will sort you out and send you on your way with a functioning iMac. Did you try using an external usb disc drive to load the disc utility from the OSX disc?

OSX firewall turned on 24/7. Little Snitch is used 24/7 to manage inbound & outbound connections. Hotspot Shied is used when away from home.

High copper content in my brake fluid - is this a scam?

This is correct...every couple of years the brake fluid should be bled out & replaced...especially so if you live in a hotter area & more humid area.
