Have a 6800 and Arctic Cooling NV5 (or tried it)?

I have used the VGA silencer on the HIS 9800pro ICQ, without issue, I've also installed NV5 Sileners on a EVGA 6800gt, & BFG 6800oc without issue and great results. I would say they are extremely simple to install.

Who here has had a 6800 GT and a 6800 Ultra and was there a big difference?

I concur, I'm running a 6800gt, & I have tinkered around with the 6800ultra other then a few more MHZ that you seem to be able to clock the ultra up to, it will only be noticeablein benchies. In actual gaming, there identical.

NV Silencer 5 Reviewed @ SPCR

Yeah there are some un-informed people on here claiming its garbage, But I have used a Silencer on both my 9800pro and my new 6800gt, its very easy to put on and it is a fantastic ALT to the stock solution. It provides better cooling, paired up with some AS5 & it is ultra silent...

I would like to see where these "Facts" are that state its garbage, I have not seen any negative tests about this cooler. And the ones I conducted myself proved it to be a excellent alternative cooling solution. There was a drop in temps with the NV5 & AS5 compaired to stock ultra...

How Do You Unlock Pipelines?

Yeah the vanilla 6800's are suppose to come with 12pipes, if yours only came with 8, then you got a bad one. The 6600's are the ones that come with 8pipes correct??

I would say Leadtek has the best stock cooler, But I think the way to go is, to get the NV Silencer 5, that thing paired up with some AS5, ICE COLD

6800 Brands

I'm runnin the 6800ultra from EVGA, with no problems, I would recommend EVGA or BFG. As I purchased a vanilla BFG 6800 for my GF, and it runs fantastic, was really impressed.

Check Newegg, they claim to have a Refurbed, Gainward 6800 with 256MB. So they must exist.

6800 GT Roundup?

I slapped on a NV5 Silencer without any troubles at all Temps are 55 idle and never peak above 65 load With the stock EVGA cooler my temps were in the high 60's at idle and high 70's at load. NV Silencer is excellent!!

Should i buy?

I haven?t heard anything bad about any of the current manufactures, I have cards from both EVGA & BFG and they run perfectly. Cards from BFG have a custom cooler, which looks pretty cool, compared to EVGA which has a basic cooling solution.

Best card for my comp? >_<

In the $150 range I would look at anything from ATI, that was within my budget, The 9800pro would be perfect, not sure what there currently going for but it shouldnt be that much. I wouldnt get anything from Nvidia unless you can find a really cheap 5900 or 5950, anything before that...

How much are you looking to spend?? If your going to spend $200+ on a 9800XT you might as well get a Nvidia 6800 (not the GT or Ultra just the plain 6800) you can find them for about $250 on the web. I just picked one up for my friend to replace his 9800pro, & was suprised how much...

AMD 64 3500+ 939 with MSI NEO2, need upgrade advice

I just built a similar setup, AMD64 3500 (939) & MSI K8N Neo 2-platnium, I went with the new Thermalright SP-90 heatsink & 92mm Panaflo. Cooling is 38 at idle 52 load, works great I couldnt imagine using the SP-120 on the MSI board, the SP-90 is half the size and it allready covers...
