I hope that is true, but it you go into the Catalyst Control it says it is using 1115 of shared memory, I would agree that it probably is dynamic but it specifically says it can be set up to 1919MB or hypermemory with it currently set at 1407MB but there isn't anywhere that you can adjust that...

Actually it isn't in the bios setting, I have tried that, it is a Gateway MD2614u, I received it free from bestbuy because they No Lemon Lawed my old laptop and this is what was comparable to the previous spec of my old laptop.

Anyone know how to delete windows updates in cue?

Well there is an option to shut down without install, but what you can do is run windows update via the web and click the hide option for all the updates you do not want to install, you will have to hide each update you dont want individually but it will do the trick

from what I read if you buy the retail version of the upgrade you can get the 64bit version for 10 dollars from Microsoft, although it does not let you do a clean install. So you might be better off getting the 64bit OEM version of Home Premium.

you can buy OEM versions of both 32bit and 64bit and if you buy the retail version it has both. I believe the retail version of the upgrade should be both although I am not sure., Otherwise you will have to buy the OEM version of x64 or the retail version.

First Build--What do you think?

3GB sounds really random, I would either do 4GB or 6GB and they are right about the PSU, PC, Corsair or Thermaltake would be the way to go in terms of a power supply. The Giga-byte is a better motherboard and is much more affordable. Everything else seems great. I would perhaps go with a WB...

I would go with a Giga-Byte GA-EP45-UD3R mobo, I would go with either a Core 2 Duo E7400 or E8400 depending on how much you want to spend on a cpu the E7400 is 119 and E8400 is 164 and there is only a difference of 200mhz. I would go with 4GB(2x2GB) of G.Skill Ram DDR2 800. As for a...

I would perhaps get a second DVD-ROM if you do a lot of copying, and sometimes it is easier all around to have to disk drives. I would partion the HDD and put solely windows on one partion and your programs, games and media on the other partion. As for the motherboard you could save about...

If you have no attachment to Windows XP Home, I would definitely upgrade to Windows Vista either Home Premium x64 or Ultimate x64. At a very minimum upgrade to windows xp pro x64. As mentioned before no 32bit operating system will recognize that you have 4GB of ram. 8gb of ram is overkill...

I put vista ultimate 64-bit more than once, and yes anyone should know that any 32-bit operating system has a 3GB ram limit. I was unaware that the solid slate drive had a ram limit, as it was suggested to me by someone in this thread. And why would I use windows xp when it does not support...

problems after some changes in the BIOS

I had this problem occur years ago when I was trying to see how far I could overclock my 2500+ barton before it would tell me to kiss off. Billb2 is correct in saying that is probably because your cpu/memory is not capable of running at this setting.
