Needing a AP in home network. UAP-AC-Lite????

RSSI is radio signal strength indication. The UAP's have a setting for minimum RSSI that will set a threshold to force a client to disconnect and reconnect to another AP. It happens very fast and works very well in my setup.

    Ubiquiti UAP-AC-Lite in Office Setup

I find them to be quite stable and with very good performance. I have been using the UAP-AC-LR's though as they are 3x3 MIMO and the lite is 2x2. Price difference is only about $20 for the upgrade.

    Router died today

If you want something that "just works" try a Ubiquity Edgerouter-X and a Unifi AC LR. Together they are about $160 and out perform any of the routers mentioned in this thread. They are a little harder to set up but worth it.

    Ubiquiti ER-X and AC Pro

I have an ERLite and two UniFi UAP-AC-LR's and could not be happier. I never have to do anything to them. I have only had the Unifi's installed for a couple of week so only time will tell but I think they will be just as boring as the ERLite and that's a good thing.

    RT-ac68U

It does support multi-wan in failover or combining the two. It would be transparent to the lan users for the most part.

MoCA Adapters not increasing LAN speed

That should work. I think MoCa 2.0 goes up to 1650Mhz. You are referring to the main splitter for the whole house and not one you added from the wall jack right?

MoCA Adapters not increasing LAN speed

Check your splitter. It needs to be 2 Ghz or higher.

Wireless issues, considering a Ubiquiti system

If possible, always go wired first and use wireless to make up for hard to reach places and wifi only devices.

is my router too old...need suggestion on new

I upgraded my router to a Ubiquity Edgerouter Lite about a year ago. Only time it gets rebooted is for a software update and I've only done that twice. It does not have Wifi. I look at it like I do the cable modem, just plug it in and let it run, you will completely forget about it and it can...

    More Cruz stuff

I guess Europe is fucked as that is exactly what they do. Look at the countries that have VAT taxes, biggest welfare states out there. Why don't you try to back this BS up with some facts and numbers?? A VAT with import duties would replace the income tax completely. Yes, we would pay more...

Failed Predictions By Critics Of ACA

Have you looked at the structure of the law? When you push all the bad stuff down the road so the ill effects are not seen until a new administration in running things its easy act like its all great and wonderful.

Ted Cruz would want to abolish the IRS.

Sounds like your talking about Obama, tell them what they want to hear and then do the opposite. Now show me where Cruz has done that? It's so funny when the left just accuses the right of doing the crappy things that they are actually doing.

Ted Cruz would want to abolish the IRS.

I guess you like the system that we now that allows congress to offer up kick backs and special interest perks to big money donors through the tax code? You must enjoy the corruption we have now with our elected officials having so much power through the tax code. Whats even better is the...

    More Cruz stuff

I actually want a purely consumption based tax that can not be avoided, like a VAT. But it would have to include getting rid of all the other taxes. Then the rich, and corporations, will naturally pay more as they have more money to spend. Currently the IRS lets the wealthy get paid in such a...

Hey pot, have you met kettle? Why not argue his message rather than calling people names? What would a smart person have to say about Cruz's political messages? I really doubt you even know what they are so I'll list a few you didn't get from your usual left wing propaganda, I mean news...

    Ubiquiti (opinions?)

I'm running an Edgerouter Lite at home and once I got it setup as I wanted I have only had to touch it once and that was to update the firmware. It just works and now my old Asus routers (AC66 and AC68) are simply APs.

    Troubleshooting Problem

It sounds to me that you have a small subnet assigned to you and your router is not NAT'ing but just routing. If this is the case than you would not need to use the modem IP ad all. Sounds like an issue with your modem or your provider. Can you explain better the hardware you have...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

Re-read my posts and if you have any rational sense left you will see that what was argued was the definition of the nuclear option. You are once again pointing to information that states the same thing, only longer and more convoluted. And anyone with any intelligence would not use wikipedia...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

No Jackass, what you are linking to explains the "nuclear option" in the exact same way. The "nuclear option" was using a rule to allow a simple majority to overcome the need for a 60 vote majority (cloture).

Without Obamacare, I would have died.

I don't know about all states, but here in Texas preexisting conditions were covered after 6 months on a new policy and the state ran, and still does as far as I know, a high risk pool. No federal legislation needed. I have no idea what North Carolina had before the ACA, but I also think it is...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

Ok, I wasn't going to reply to this fool again, but here is a little snippet from the Washington Post so Mr. foaming mouth can shut up: "What made the day so historic for senators, former senators and the small collection of parliamentary experts in Washington was the simple majority vote...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

At least you present a coherent argument unlike ivwshane. Now, all minorities do this. The Republicans did threaten this very same thing (nuclear option) during the Bush years so it was only a matter of time until one party actually did it. That does not make it right and if we can't make if...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

What fact have you stated? Get a grip, you are loosing it. Your juvenile reliance on non-existing facts is funny. I stated a simple statement that all sides of the debate should have a voice and you argue about some one acting like "a little bitch" referring to a simple lesson that everyone...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

I hope they do, and then they will have to cast actual votes to show it. Reid kept them from actually voting on these issues to protect them. It didn't really end up protecting them though..

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

If you payed attention I agreed that the problem should be stopped on both sides. Didn't your mother ever tell you two wrongs don't make a right? Your ignorance of OUR government is THE problem! It was never designed to be easy to pass laws for that exact reason. Major changes to our...

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

That is just as bad. I would like to see these actions eliminated. I don't see how a party that sells itself as being for the little guy pushing rules that silences the voices of the minority.

Reid was the biggest problem in the current Congress

In my opinion, Harry Reid has done more harm to the country than Obama. With the changes he made to the Senate rules he effectively eliminated the representation of millions of people. By not allowing bills and amendments to be introduced by other members of Congress, he alone made all the...

    How are Ubiquity routers?

Why don't you just use the Westell 6100's firewall and add a switch rather than another router? At lease until they have the ability to support PPPoE. Does the Westell limit DHCP to one device?

    How are Ubiquity routers?

I would change the DSL modem to bridge mode. If not, you don't need a router or you double NAT. You could subnet the 192.168.1.XXX network but that would require changes in your DSL modem config also. This would let you route through the Edgerouter to the DSL modem, but this seems to be...

    How are Ubiquity routers?

JackMDS, I don't think you are making any sense. The OP asked if the router would be good for home use, not if it is magical or the only viable router. I do think your comment on the wired only router to be a little absurd. As if only WiFi routers are not a waste of money? You could pair...

have you looked in the attach? When I moved last I found all the Cat-5e runs wire nutted together in the attach. From there I punched them down on a punch down block and extended all of them to a closet near by where put my switch. I even pulled a new RG-6 for the cable modem into the same...

    How are Ubiquity routers?

If you take the time to learn how to set one up you will forget you have it. Once configured it will be much more reliable than any of the consumer WiFi routers out there. By the way, with the newest firmware, they have a wizard you can run that will give you a good working basic config...
