Found out it was a typo and the PORT1L on the right needs to read PORT2L
http://www.intel.com/support/m...sktop/sb/cs-015851.htm
Additionally, I found that HD Audio for the front ports adds jack sensing so if head phones are plugged in, it will turn off the rear speakers. I think that's...
My case supports the HD configuration for the front panel and the AC97. I'm going to try the HD configuration but I have just a couple questions about it.
1) What is it exactly? How does it differ from AC97?
2) On the manual it shows the L1 connection twice. I think this may be a typo...
Just noticed... the VS is cas 2.5 also. Pretty nice. So now all I loose is timings and the possibility of doing Dual Channel
I think I'm good for this now. I just hope there's no incompatibility issues with the notebook mobo. If it becomes an issue then I'll just go to plan C... yank the...
Thanks Bruno.. I think I will likely go with the 1GB stick and maybe later pair it with another 1GB stick if I reallly need that. The Cas change from 2.5 to 3.0 may not be that huge but the Dual Channel may be slightly significant... add on the stricter timings and I feel that I may notice a...
Well crap, now I'm really confused... the chipset apparantley supports Dual Channel.

Maybe I should pull the 512MB and sell it and get 2 1GB chips... hmmm?
I have a Gateway 7410GX notebook with 512MB Corsair XMS 3200LL memory. I'm thinking of another chip of the same allowing me to keep my timings, CAS and maybe dual channel if this thing supports it (don't think it does though). But the problem is that ecost is the only place I can find it and...
Thanks for the reply... sorry for the delayed response. I was thinking of going with the Vantec LapCool2 products. I've contemplated the velcro idea, I hope it can hold well though. Maybe that plastic velcro stuff but then it may scratch surfaces when the notebook is not on the cooler. It...
I know I can mod one, I was wondering if there is already a notebook cooler that is designed to attach to the notebook so I can tote it around from room to room or whatever? I want it to be able to detach also when needed.
Thanks
I'll take that. I haven't figured out the HTT/Divider/FSB thing yet.... I guess I'm just wondering if having the 10x multiplier will only be needed if I'm pushing past X speed? That would have been a better question.
msi neo4 ultra

3000+ or 3200+ Venice chips
Is the 3200+ worth the $50 more at stock speeds?
What stable overclocks would you expect with each cpu without issues (stock HSF)?
What stable overclocks would you expect with each cpu without issues (Quality HSF)...
OK, I think I'm set with my new system specs in the original post. I decided on the Hitachi SataII 250GB based on some information I gathered on their platters and heads.
The only question I have now is the 3000+... I'm considering the 3200+ but can't really afford the extra $50 at this...
I expect stats to be off, it's the potential that's good to know. Running the 10 benchmarks at what about 2 min a piece and giving avg and worst/best runs is a perfect benchmark solution until a true time demo comes out. I'm guessing you also ran it at:
1600 x 1200
4xaa 4xaf
all in game...
Jeff, could you run it at 1024x768? I don't know about time demos though. Hmmm... that would be a better comparison as one could be running in a desert with nothing around and the other could be in a Harrier battle with enemy tanks firing... there would be a slight difference in the frames...
Thanks for the info... I'm at work and trying to do too many things at once. Work is overratted anyway. :P They will probably frown at my benchmarks today and upgrade me for a new model. Then I'll consider it a BF2 vacation... see good in bad right?
Anyway back to the subject. This is...
I ran into this thread so far. It's not going to be a completley fair comparison to the X800XL as he is running the 3500+ with 2GB of Ram on a diff MBD but if Tab's benchies are comparable we could make an assumption...
No go ahead and play for a little. There should be a log of the stats. I would like to see if it can maintain 30fps
Here's the setup if you wouldn't mind
1600 x 1200
4xaa 4xaf
all in game settings set to high.
You should have some output like this
Frames: XXXX - Time: XXXXXms -...
The 160GB Hitachi Drive is almost identical to the WD 160GB Drive... the cross ship and WD's reliability makes me want to go with the WD. but without knowing the performance comparison.... As far as the Raptor, the review link I post above shows the Hitachi and Raptor are pretty comparable. If...
I'm sure you were referring to the x-connect I had in the orignal post... I've updated it to clear confusion. x-connect isn't even a consideration now. no worries there.
The Tsunami was the case I was considering first. A lot of people pointed me towards the Antec's and the Soprano II looked like the case for me. I'll do a double take on a Tsunami/Seasonic combo but I'm running out of cash. :)
is it? I have no brand loyalty, I've heard that I can't go wrong with the Antec's or Seasonic's. This PSU had dual 15a 12v rails so I thought it would be plenty
EDIT::: I'm guessing you were talking about the x-connect, I understand that now and agree
I think I'll be the lab rat :)
I would think with the hitachi sataII drives showing comparable performance to the Raptors (not in every situation) and WD has always been reliable for me and they do cross ship replacements... f it, I'm snagging the 160GB
/me changes name to pappa_lab_rat
OK, here's what I have now.... any opninions?
I don't know much about the WD drive's performance... it's a little new

ok, I'm sold on this. Will this power supply suffice for a current amd64 x800xl setup with about 4-5 drives or is the Seasonic drives still that much better? I would like it to last through the Crossfire + X2 4000+ generation but that may be asking too much right?
thanks for the help everyone... I guess I should clarrify. I'm about to send it today but it should have been there last week. I'm pretty sure I'm screwed but it's worth the stamp to try.
I remembered a conversation once about this... something to do with Chinese Luck. Financial luck if I'm not mistaken. I never knew the origin however or if it was just an excuse as long pinky nails have been known to sample cocaine or to use as a snuff spoon... same thing. But I don't think...
I was thinking of something along the lines of
"This letter was returned from the PO as undeliverable due to smeered ink that was beyond my control. I apologize for the inconevience this will cause but I am a loyal customer of your products....."
I am a complete idiot with these rebates...
yeah, i saw that. It's the whole getting approved thing that stopped me from mentioning it. To bad they don't give you like $15 for trying or something. :P
I still have my doubts on this rebate. I think I should email or call them, or not and roll the dice.
$159 Antec 11Bay Mid Tower and 480W Kit NeoPower
$25 rebate on NeoPower 480 SKU #CP7MSV
= $134 right?
I don't think I've ever seen Antec include this kind of PSU with their case so this would likely be a separate part with just a buy.com bundle deal... does anyone know if this rebate would...

Can you recommend a setup that's better than this that's cheaper for me? I like Antec and have been eyeing the Sonata but I was in awe when I saw this one. I'm open to suggestions. Here's my setup
