It's because the people who made it were console peasants and didn't know any better :p I don't know why but timing in the game might be tied to fps and 35 just felt right. That's wild speculation though.
I've been thinking of ordering a steam controller, but I'm worried about them expecting you to use the touchscreen for a dpad. Biggest reason I want to get rid of my 360 controller is the shifty dpad. Anyone around that beta'd it try using it on nes/genesis/etc emulators?
I couldn't find one that suited me well. The MS ergo keyboards have the best design in my opinion (haven't tried kinesis though), but don't come in mechanical :(
Since I don't type a lot anymore I switched to non-ergo to get a mech I was happy with.
They're going to release Half Life 2 Episode 2 Chapter 1 next. Switching to a chapter based release schedule will allow them to release content incrementally thus bringing it to the people faster and cheaper.
