Registration and Activation are 2 different things.
If you go to the Service Activation link on www.replaytv.com it says that ALL 5500 models are pre-activated with 3 years and as long as there is no "service activation" choice within the Setup Menu on the replaytv that the system is activated...
Drove 1 hour to CC and got two units. Salesman said they now require registaration but they had stickers and one worked fine the other is giving me a Network Socket Error. I will call tech support tomorrow.

If I boot from the CD, will it give me the option of erasing the hard drive, etc before installing the OS?

About a year ago I tried formatting the harddrive to install XP, but could not get it to install (not bootable from CD?). I would like to get this accomplished this time so thought some insight from experts might help.
