Any new 32nm parts soon?

Thanks everyone, gave me a lot of info I needed to decide what to do. Unfortunately, while I do have 2 PCI-E 16x slots, the second slot is only x4? (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813128087) Either way, I know what I want to do now; upgrade my video card, build cheap 2nd computer...

I'm currently running a 4870 HD, slightly OC'd, running dual 2048x1152 monitors. I imagine the monitors are why I'm getting lower-than-expected results (I can't play SCII on Ultra without getting "You are slowing down the game" messages, for instance) I think I am going to favor the approach...

Huh. I've got the same issue with a 4870. Never thought it could be caused by the videocard. I always thought it stemmed from botching some Windows settings (Win7)

Yes, definitely. Which is the route I was originally going to take (since I'm building my computer literally so my old one can replace an aging one). I was going super-affordable, and realized a cheap i3 overclocked was probably better than my e8400. Another question; 3.8GHz Conroe w/ 4870...

Need an AGP card

Except for the videocard, it does meet the recommended specs, at least - 2.4GHz (running 2.8Ghz), 2GB RAM. Tho I understand 2.4GHz doesn't mean the same thing as it the requirements imply... and the 2GB RAM is likely looking for more than DDR1... but... eh. You should see the system I've got...

I've taken a lot of steps to reduce the amount of space used. I've moved my temporary files off the primary drive, disabled system restore, and never let anything pile up in my recycle bin. I haven't disabled Hibernation though, that sounds like a good idea. The general conclusion I've come...

I picked up Kingston's SSDNow 40gb a while back, and it's been fantastic. Except for the size. Win7 + WoW, which is all I intended to put on it, eat nearly every scrap of space on the poor thing. I figured that would be fine except... I can't put 100% of everything on my secondary drive...

DW CS3 - default display issues?

I hope someone here can help me, I haven't been able to figure anything out about this so far. Ever since I reinstalled DW CS3 (was on Vista before, now on Win7) my Dreamweaver won't load VBscript as the default... code... view... language... I'm not sure what it's called, to be honest...

What does that mean, exactly? I just installed Win7 on my machine because I couldn't wait any longer, but I just bought the 40gig Kingston SSD, and I'll be doing a fresh install on that. I don't remember any AHCI thingy.

Dead video card?

The family computer managed to get infected, and I cleaned it out and thought everything was good, but then later that day, the screen just went blank, like, no signal. When I turn on the computer, half way thru the Windows XP load, the screen just goes black, before the Login screen appears...

I've done all this except drop to dx9. I'll try that and see how it goes once I get some time to. Juggling various drivers might not be a bad idea, but that one deserves a bit more research than I have time to do at the moment.

That's what I thought. Those 46xx cards came out after I had already gotten my own card. I read the read up on Anandtech when they came out and just noted them as low-mid range cards. I assumed the 8800gt was faster, tho older, which is why I asked, and is also my minimum benchmark for this...
