Slow LAN xfers... IP to IP only

Also, if your machines are XP, then you might want to install teh NetBEUI protocol for your lan adapters. Inherently, XP does LAN traffic as IP. IPX or NetBEUI is much faster. I had the same problem. If you can't find the NetBEUI protocol, look on your XP disc.

Weird Access problem with XP and 2k.

Wolfie, For your reference, at the login screen for XP, you can ctrl alt del and get the classic 2K login box. You can enter in the admin account/password there. If you get TweakUI for XP at MS.com, you can also use it to tweak XP back to looking like 2K.

Also, on the 2K machine, uninstall the drivers for the NIC. Reboot. Then if it finds new hardware, cancel that. Reinstall the drivers from the driver disc.

In XP there is a service specifically for WiFi compatibility and networking. YOu said the other machines have XP and hers 2K. Well, that WiFI service is Automatic by default. Check her services and make sure it is on (if it is even there). I don't know much about 2K wireless support however...

Where do you plug in the 3 pin connector for the Power LED on a motherboard that has no 3 pin spot?

I was at Frys yesterday. They had the 3pin connector to 2 pin connector adapter. It was a male connector on teh 3 side, and female on the 2 side.

opionions on board for prescott

Wouldn't an 875 board work better for prescotts? I don't think the 865 boards were designed in mind for the power consumption of the prescotts. I would look to those boards like an abit IC7 Max 3 or an ASUS P4C800 series.

Best Performance: 230MHz 1:1 or 250MHz 5:4

IMO, running your memory at 1:1 will yield overall better results than pushing your processor a couple 100 MHZ faster. But as always, YMMV. HTH HAND

WinXP and strange folder sharing issues.

Make sure you have Netbeui over TCP/IP installed on both machines under your NIC properties. Ive had the same troubles with networking XP. It's not as intuitive as it should be.

Overclock Celeron 1.1GHZ 128K

I've been running my celery 1.1 at 1.26G (115 FSB) on the ABIT VH6. Anything over that and it locks up. But, it's been running for a couple of years like that and temps have never been over 40 at load. But, I agree, overclocking for 160 more MHz is pretty pointless.
