DVD Burners....

I use a Sony DRU-710A Dual Layer (BYX2 firmware)-quite good writing speeds and I don't burn any copy-protected DVD's (eg. movies)-only original content that I create and burn with Nero 6 0EM Sony Edition and other programs

The 61.77 drivers are not WHQL certfied currently-the 61.76 release was.

I do not use beta drivers myself and I would only use a newer version if it is an official release by NVIDA (I wonder why there isn't a newer offiical driver version than 56.72?)

ATI Mobility (IGP320M) vs 9000/9200 etc etc.?

Similar to a 7000 or a 852/855GM's Extreme Graphics. The Go 5200 or ATI 9200/9000 are better still.

Recommended Video Cards for Call of Duty

I forget, try a 9600 or find a 9800 on eBay. Agreed-NVIDA's CineFX (D3D) and OpenGL-in this case is well implemented. I got 6166 3DMarks (2001SE) with the DX9 capable FX5200-awesome with EA games.

Recommended Video Cards for Call of Duty

I've run COD on a intergrated Intel 845G. Under $100-TI4200,FX5200,9200,GF3/GF4MX I own a 128MB FX5200-very awesome environment detail in say, BF1942 with NVIDA Forceware 56.72 .

2d performance - Matrox 550 vs todays cards

NVIDA FX5200 (great with BF1942 on my fast 2.4GHz P4) or 5500-5900, perhaps the 9600XT-low to mid-end,more than 32mb -so would run BF1942 or BFV ok and still usuable 2D performance
