Venice 3000+ Epox 9NDA3J first run troubles

Here's my Aquamark03 stats. Same ram, same drives, same power supply. Barton 2800+ NF7-S v2.0 did GFX:6000 CPU:6622 total:41,300 Athlon64 3000+ Venice in Epox 9NDA3J does GFX:3417 CPU:2864 total: 21,400 Something is really not right with that. Tried 2T 2.5,3,3,7 Timings

VENICE 3000+ problem...

I just ordered a 3000+ Venice. The board I have is Epox 9NDA3+ (Nforce3 Ultra). My ram is rather old Twinmos PC3700 2x512. This ram was all-star on Nforce2 but will it be worth a shiat in the modern boards? I'm interested into pushing it to 3500+ levels or 2.2ghz.

The drive ships in Sata150 mode so it should work with your internal sata connections. But you couldn't run Sata300 mode until you upgrade to a Nforce 4 Ultra motherboard. Time to upgrade is now! I've been waiting for these SataII drives. Motherboards can be had for $100. The Athlon64 chips...

HD disappeared after SP2 installed

Actually, I had not luck with norton disk doctor. but the windows error checking scan did eventually work. It came out error free. It just took many many hours which made me think it was stopping. It must have been doing a thorough free space scan. The interface to testdisk isn't that clear but...

I got it back using testdisk. http://www.cgsecurity.org/ It scanned the physical drive and allowed me to load the NTFS backup MBR file and write it back to the front. When I rebooted I had my drive back. Though I am currently unable to get through a complete cycle of scandisk. It locks up 4/5...

Got mine back using testdisk. http://www.cgsecurity.org/ It scanned the physical drive and allowed me to load the NTFS backup MBR file. When I rebooted I had my drive back.

Check out the recovery console in XP. You might be able to fix the boot sector or MBR using that utility. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_rec.htm Might be better descriptions of how to use it out there.

I'm checking into some recory programs right now. One was $100 per gig (yeah right) and another was $30 but didn't work. I finally found one for $80 that is just right. Anyone know of a better recovery program for copying files off this bad directory HD. Cheaper I mean.

Looking for a good nforce2 motherboard

I have the NF7-S v2.0. The board was developed right as the ultra chipset came out. It was the first to use the Ultra chipset but since it wasn't certified yet they couldn't call it an ultra. Looks like they do now. The version 2's run 400fsb and that makes it an ultra.

Are you using a PS2 keyboard or mouse? I've seen a few posts about these boards having a bad PS2 port and causing posting problems. Try a USB keyboard and mouse. You can try disconnecting any case fans that plug into your MB. Sometimes they cause a boot problem. So I assume you've been...

Congrats, you should now have one of the fastest systems out there. Huh, you had to update to an older Bios first? The most recent revision usually contains all of the previous fixes as well as the new ones.

K8N Neo Platinum uses my ddr400 @ 333 mhz instead of 400 - need help

That should kick arse over the xp2500. Try going into the BIOS (press delete) Look on right for LOAD OPTOMIZED DEFAULTS. Save that Bios and fire it up.

yep you still need dr.dos. Its an exe file found at www.bootdisk.com. DL and run. It will format a boot disk that will run on any pc. Add your bios stuff and your set. I've never tried booting from a SATA drive. You could be in for more fun. Good Luck

I'm not sure. You would need to boot from CD in the bios and since you can't save a bios change your kinda screwed. You need to find a way to make a floppy with dr.dos and put your bios and awdflash on it. Can you load windows with your checksum error? Then make a floppy with your new PC...

Sounds like it's time for that Bios update. Do you have internet connectivity? Checksum means some piece of hardware and or a bios setting has changed and is not matching with the old bios. Sometimes resetting bios settings can be tricky. Try to reset cmos with the jumper then when you fire it...

Not all holes are grounding points. Often times, the one or two holes in the very corners are not grounding points as they are not standard ATX formfactor mounting holes. You can determine whether a mounting hole is a ground by whether or not the tin/solder/metal ring around the holes is present...

Boot it and press delete to get to bios. Look for Load Optomized Defaults then press F10 to save. That will clear your checksum error. What kinda standoffs do you have. Brass screw in kind or funky plastic ones. Do they look like this:Motherboard Install Instructions

Those are nice parts. I feel bad for you. Resetting the Bios shouldn't damage anything unless you do it wrong. It sounds like the problem. I would try to reset it. If it's a pin you have to move then it's real easy. Yours is located at JBAT1. Unplug ur power supply move the pin to the reset...
