He's talking about the dynamic RAM on the silicon itself. Extra cache lines for redundacy (DRAM) as opposed to an extra logic core in silicon that will only be used if another core is faulty.

Yeah, sidewinder mentions having to mod some boards to get it to work. Again, I'm trusting them that it'll fit my board... I bought the XP-120 today with the Panaflo 120x38 Ultra High Speed 116 CFM along with a Asus P5WD2. Thanks for you help guys/gals. I'll repost when I have it all...

I'm not really too interested in overclocking, but having the option is always nice incase I change my mind down the road. :) I am still debating get a PCIe mobo or an AGP solution with a card like the 6600 GT. Any advice is apprciated.

I need a mobo recommendation

I've come across a P4 Northwood 3.2 GHz 800 fsb socket 478 and I would like a recommendation for a mobo from the good people at anandtech forums. I did a forum search and the only thread I could find seemed a little dated. I also need a HSF if you could recommend that too. TIA

How much RAM do you plan to have in your computer?

I originally budgeted 512 RAM for my rig, but a month later I got a sweet tax return. $100 of it went to another 512 of RAM and the rest went to the bank. :)

gaming speakers

I am also currenlty debating weather to drop $150 on a sound card and 5.1 speakers. There's a huge difference in sound performance, I just don't know if I can justify the $150 right now :frown:

Prescott Mobo help

The entire archecture of the chip has changed. AT did a full review, if you go to the cpu page, Intel's Pentium 4 E: Prescott Arrives with Luggage. Prescotts won't see their potential until they're clocked in the 4-5 GHz range.

Haha. I don't expect this to be too big of a deal for most people, just be careful. For those that have to swap these daily, it's going to be a pain. I plan to get a AMD 64 processor in a few months, so whatever :P

Crash when gaming...

Just RMA it and say that running a memtest failed. They'll run their own tests on it and see the errors as well. Maybe give them 1 or 2 of the common errors that pop up.

RECOMMEND me a Motherboard - Athlon 2400+

I have a A7N8X (no X or Deluxe or anything) and my uptime is usually measured in weeks. I game regularily on it, plus check email and do homework, etc.

Do Athlon XPs work in dual mobo's?

There are ways to mod current AMD XP processors to make them appear as MP's. This involves soldering some of the bridges on the chip. My roommate successfully did this with 2400+ XP processors. I'm sure if you do a google search you'll find plenty of info on how to do this.
