I believe you are right.
They are bundling this with the following CPUs:
AMD XP 3000+(333mhz) $144.00
or
AMD XP 2800+(333Mhz) $108.00
I don't see any way to order JUST the mobo.
The odds of my ever reaching 10K (heck, even 1K) are slim to none. However, Since I'm only a few days away from my 500 Milestone, I'd be happy to donate all my WU's after that to whoever needs them most. I'm only talking about ~7 WU's/day, but every little bit helps, right?
Just let me know...
Church doctrine requires a miracle to be an observable event that lacks a scientific explanation, facilitates healing or good and conveys a religious message.
Have you followed the proper protocol for reporting this miracle!??

I'm wondering, with HP and BBR far behind us, are we likely to catch S@NL or is it too much to expect? The current diff is about 785,000 WUs.
The reason I ask is this: Is it time to move my meager crunching capacity to another TA DC project? Can we just coast across the finish line in SETI...
unfortunately, I'm living in a world where I have but one PC. One motherboard... one video card. If I had another video card to test with this motherboard, I would. If I had motherboard to test with this video card, I would.
But alas, 'tis not the case. :-(
I definitely recall that the...
I've got an ECS K5s7a and an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card. I'm seeing wavy lines all over my monitor and they seem to grow in severity the longer the system is running.
I had a similar problem with a previous monitor (same mobo / video card) and I once read that there was a problem with ATI...
Can we get Seti@Netherlands added to the chart?
We were 845,000 WUs behind them a couple of days ago, and now we're on 805,000 WUs behind. At that rate we'll pass them in..... about 40 days! We can do it!!!!
BTW: I'm on the pacific Coast and the Stats page shows the wrong time. At 1:25 my time, it says 4:25 Pacific Standard Time. It should read either 1:25 PAcific, or 4:25 Eastern, or just show the UTC. :-)
I can't offer any help, but I am very interested in the solution if you ever figure it out. I'm running a Samsung 19" something-or-other (quite old) with an ATI Radeon 9600 video card on an ECS K5S7A mobo and I get the same shimmy. Sometimes it's worse that other times, but it's almost always...
I found the IP address (in the Owner's Manual on CD-ROM). Also, I think I might need to disable ICF on my machine. At least that's something I've seen in the stuff I just read (thanks again for the links).
Of course, I'm at work right now, so I won't be able to try any of this out until...
ugh. so close and yet so far away!
I finally got all the hardware I needed to add my second machine to my "network" (router, NICs, patch cables) and was all set.... then the power blinked... and now my second machine won't start. I think the power surge fried it's power supply. I *hope* it's...
Thanks Jack. I'll take a look at those links tonight and see if I can't get this darn thing working.
One question though: I mentioned that my second box was fried. So right now I have only the one main box. If I hook it up the router, how do I know if the connection is good? There won't be...
I had a fine little connection going with my RCA Cable modem via a USB
connection. Life was ok, if not good.
Then I decided that I really wanted to hook 2 comps to the net (and each
other) via a Uniden 4-port router.
Since the Cable modem was using a USB port, I needed a NIC card for the...
but I NEEEEEEED the KVM! Oh no! What will I do if that's the problem!??? I can't go back... I won't go back.... Auuughhhhh!
Actually, thanks for the suggestions. We definitely do not have any new electronics in the room, just the TV, which has been there all along. I definitely WILL try...
Now THAT is how to spice up SETI. Add a "Hostile Takeover" feature!
Allow groups to "challenge" another groups right to exist, then, within a specified time limit, a certain percentage of each group's members would have to do something (email, or click something, or visit the "hostile takeover...
Has anyone out there created a nice Samurize script/config for this? I'd love to keep the TeAm vs. BBR stats on my desktop at all times, but it would take me forever to figure out how to do it myself! Who's got that much free time??? :-)
If you've done this, please share!!!!
LOL! At first glance, I thought the Topic Title said:
"My Wife broke router... what to replace her with?"
Seemed like a logical question... perhaps a nice border collie? LOL!
Ok, so here goes.
I've slowly been upgrading my PC over time (kind of a FrankenPC, if you know what I mean) and I've run into a bit of trouble.
The last upgrade I made was a cheap mobo/CPU combo deal from Fry's Electronics. It's a ECS K5S7A mobo and AMD Athlon 1800+ processor (I think). The...
Ok. Consider me sufficiently pummeled for the suggestion (glad to hear I'm not the first!).
I'll admit you all have a sound argument against a merger and I am convinced that it would not be in the best interest of either team.
Go TeAm!
has anyone considered putting aside our differences and joining forces with BBR in a joint effort? The combined total WUs would put us into first by a margin of more than 11% over the current #1 team.
Perhaps a new group name could be TeAm BBR, or AnandBBR, or just plain TeAm AnandTech/BBR...
I agree with you..... got a spare router laying around???
If not, I think I can get a NIC a lot cheaper that a router. I definitely need one or the other!
ack! I've just discovered that I'm missing a network card for my new setup. :(
I've got one card in my main box, connected to the cable modem. then I've got another card in my second box to connect it to the hub.....BUT I need a second card in my main box or I can't connect it to the hub...
OK, perhaps my ignorance is showing, but how on Earth do you build a diskless cruncher?? Where's the OS live? Where do the WUs hang out? Where does the SETI@Home client live? I suppose you could boot to a floppy, but don't you need more disk space than a floppy can provide?
I tell you one...
I've scraped together an old P-200 and am almost ready to crank it up (I'm honestly putting it together to squeeze out an extra WU or two a day!). What it lacks (besides a better CPU) is a Cat5 cable (so's I can hook it up to my other machine and share the cable modem) and maybe some more RAM...
I had originally planned to joina small team here at work, but I read about your race to the finish line against BBR and decided to make the switch!
Count me in for the final push!!
Thanks again for ALL the help folks!
