davidos, I run XP Pro, use an x800xl and an A64 3200+ and I never had the sbzengine problem, sorry to hear you're experiencing it. Check out the official game forum @ http://community.vugames.com/WebX?14@@.f0088b0 Tons of info there on fixes for that problem. Hope you get it working...

can you get DSL service without a landline?

I think PremiumG is asking if you need the physical copper telephone line into the premise in order to have DSL service (ADSL, SDSL, HDSL, whatever type). The answer to that is yes. If PremiumG is asking if you need "phone" service, meaning local or long distance voice, then no, not always...

Look again at the memory combination matrix in the manual closely. Memory installed in DIMM slots 1 & 3 as you have will work, but only run at DDR333 speeds. To achieve dual-channel DDR, install your two sticks of 512 RAM in the 1st two slots closest to the CPU, DIMM1 (green) & DIMM2 (purple).

Why are you confused? He said he's willing to try anything. This is a minor thing to be sure of before going to alot of other trouble. Albeit, the problem is probably something much more in-depth and elusive to find. Hope you get it figured out soon lather, good luck.

Have you tried swapping out the monitor and trying another one? I've seen faulty monitors be the cause of random reboots before. Just something to consider.

Want to Try Overclock - Please Help to Understand

Thanks a million for the reply LTC8K6. I ran CPU-Z and yep, it's a slow old Willy :( Oh well, not worth messing with really, I'd probably burn it up anyway. Guess I'll be going for my upgrade sooner than I thought, but hey, that's a good thing right!? CPU-Z did help me with my RAM timings...

Cool, thx for the reply. I do have a VGA to DVI adapter that came with a Radeon 9800 Pro. If I use that, will it provide the same quality DVI connection to the monitor, the same as if I were using an actual DVI ended cable?

Tallman45, "First thing is to move to a disk subsystem vs a single drive rig then you will reduce the access times a lot." That sounds like a cheap alternative for the time being since you say the performance gain of an upgrade won't be that great. However, I know jack about dual disk setups...
