Thankfully BSOD's are gone now that I have the new mobo in, but that tool is good to know.. thanks for that. Also I put the old PSU back in since it didn't fix my problem.. :) edit: and just had a failure again.. mouse light flashes 3 times and holds on the 3rd time for 1 second, then repeats...

I have the same problem regardless of PSU. The OCZ I got in 2011 and has been working fine, so I replaced it with the Seasonic but it didn't help. I still have the same problem.

ugh.. man this sucks. So I took all these lockups as a sign to get my data backup going again (I've been lagging on that), so I started that last night at 10pm and apparently it locked up at night and restarted because when I woke up this morning, i was at my login screen with no apps running...

My Amazing 8800GT Deal!

yeah it's rare that Best Buy would beat any other online retailers right now.. i was considering getting one (with the 12% coupon), but I have an eVGA and plan to step up to an 8800GT shortly.. just sucks that I have to step up to the slowest clocked 8800GT.. :(

what are your other system specs? if you have an LCD, what's the native resolution? also, Crysis shouldn't be the measure of what you get. It's a beast that no system can tame right now.

so I just got an 8800GTS 320MB and I can't get it to scale. I'm using the 163.71 beta drivers. When I choose "Do not scale" and click apply, the selection goes right back to "Use my display's built-in scaler."

That's weird. And you have Native Resolution (in the settings right below the scaling options) set to the native res of your monitor (1440x900), right?

well you can always dual boot.. install XP first, create a new Vista partition.. get everything up and running on XP, format that other partition, then install Vista.

it doesnt - it sounds like the game you're trying to play is set at 1280x1024. what game are you trying? Try setting the game to 1280x800.

doesn't Vista do some indexing when first installed? Try turning it off. I lasted about 6 hours on Vista, then went back to XP after it cut my FPS in half when gaming.
