CD/DVD Storage?

ya, those automated ones are a little much for me. might be slightly different if they actually let you use it as a cd rom drive rather than just storage, but still i think it would be overkill. Thanks a lot for the great suggestions guys!

I need urgent help with choosing a router modem from a limited number of candids

for gaming and such wireless does suck if you have multiple users. but if it is cement you may have to have more than 1 wireless connected by wires to go thru the floor. in the end, wireless is kinda just wireless. I prefer linksys to anything but if youre a reseller try out the usr, you can...

I would first communicate with your ISP, see if they run some sort of periodic sweeps or updates to their equipment that could mess up your network (though it is not supposed to) Also check times. is it always going down around the same time? or same ammount of uptime (as previously asked)...

remote access programs

All the vnc programs are relitively the same (free versions) tightvnc boasts being most lightweight, but who knows. I use realvnc4 registered version to control my pc from work and have found that shutting off the background and lowering color depth greatly reduce lag times. and dont use...

Network drives - Windows XP Pro, user names and passwords

I am guessing you dont use a password at logon of windows. Set one, and make the user/pass the same on both the computer and the share and you should be good with the mapped drives. FYI: having windows remember passwords really isnt the best of security

Need help setting up networking

This really isnt too hard. You can make it a bit easier on yourself if you have at least a dedicated file server (with all the files on it) or maybe even a domain (gives you the same effect across multiple computers) Though I think a domain is too much work to set up for what you want at this...

PVR Software MCE vs. BeyondTV

I have this same dilemma. I have a 9800AIW and I cant seem to find any pvr I like. The native ATI one seems about perfect, cept the scheduler likes to crash a lot (right as you schedule at least so you know, then you can manually record the timeslot but its a pain) and occasionally craps out...

How can i prevent a user with a limited account from accessing the Control Panel?

how have you restricted them? what OS? Is it part of a domain? You want to use computer/domain security policies, to shut off control panel, shut off individual controls inside control panel, and disable that stupid 'helpful' bar on the right of the window the exact settings I dont know...

Longshot...Anyonw connecting to the net through bluetooth and your cel phone?

I'm definately not, but I have toyed with using my palm over my RAZR I didnt play with it much, but was basically told that you needed to actually pay for a wireless internet plan to do it (having my 1mb of internet included with my text messaging package didnt count) if you get it working...
