    Well I just did a restore off the original cds.. that all went well. Then as soon as it was done and went to boot into windows it did the EXACT same thing at the exact same spot... Any ideas what to do now?

    it's doing it as SOON as the windows xp graphic comes up.. the one with the bar underneath it. The new motherboard was not the same model as the old one. That really shouldn't matter though, should it?

    Just swapped out the motherboard with a socket 478 MSI. It now turns on without a problem but as soon as it gets close to windows I get an instant bluescreen and it reboots itself..... argh
