    drivers will not come from WD. I would think drivers would be included in XP but you may need to get them from Gigabyte and put them on a usb stick or floppy since Vista is asking you for them ? (that would be SATA drivers for vista)...

    my guess is the motherboard has more to do with it than anything. ( like how you can almost boot into windows 95 from a 10 year old 2G hard disk via usb, but if you plug that usb hard disk into a windows 95 machine it will just laugh at you.
