I got some speakers

All i've really used them on so far is listening to mp3s of all different bitrates in iTunes. That new soundcard should be here tomorrow. I'm hoping that takes care of it.

I got some speakers

Yeah I've got all these volume slider issues under control, they're all up. I'm beginning to suspect my crappy onboard audio out, but I said I have a new card on the way, so if I hook that up and things are still fishy, then I dunno... If anyone out there actually has these same speakers...

I don't understand about 5.1 surround

Let's say I hooked up a 5.1 system and then played some media that wasn't encoded in surround, like a CD let's say. What happens then? Does anything come out of the satellites? Are the back two speakers called satellites? If not, please forgive me, but I'm talking about the back two speakers. I...

[/i] Yeah, I have a gig too. the more I talk to people the more im convinced its either a software issue or the motherboard. I'm going to try formatting my drive to see if that fixes it, if not, ill try to get ASUS to cough up a new board, im well within their warranty.

[/i] Interestingly enough I tried recently to flash my BIOS using a bootable CDROM that I made with Nero and had some problems. Are you running the newest version? Does it say they were created on 6-23-2004 for you? Cuz I'm pretty sure they were actually created on like 8-7-04, or so Asus...

oh oh one more thing. I noticed that whenever I'm scrolling down a website, something in the computer, either the GPU or the CPU makes a little ticking noise everytime I scroll down one line, one tick for every scroll. also I can hear this noise only it's interval is much shorter, each time...

yeah it's a 2.8 C. Another interesting thing is that last night I OCed the processor to 3 ghz and the card to 400/1100 (up from 370/1100 stock) and then benchmarked it again with 3dmark2001 and actually got LESS 3d marks than before. Also, there's really nothing running in the background, and...

I recently got a GeForce 6800 GT from a co-worker, and i watched the card work very smoothly on his computer, so I'm confident the issue is not with the card. The weird thing is that most games for me will lag up no matter if im on the highest resolution or the lowest. A good example of this...

Doom 3 and 6800 GT. Something is wrong here.

I did look there, thats what initally got me worried. People with computers slower than mine all got at least 10 fps higher than me. I have a p4 C 2.8 ghz. Do you think maybe its an issue with having a pentium as opposed to a athalon?

yeah vsync is off...I dunno man this is pretty weird. I have a P4P800 Deluxe mobo if that helps anyone. I updated the north bridge chipset software earlier today too.

I dont want to cheat, i was just asking if I should have started out the level with it, or if you find it later in the level, or if you're meant to do the whole level without one.

If by precache you mean Im running it once then running it again right after and only paying attention to the second one, yes I am doing that. I have the refresh rate set to app preference, let me make sure that I turned vsync off in cp too. Although Im pretty sure it'd have to be off for me...

I understand that, but Im talking about the time demo. Other people with systems similar to mine have been getting around 70 fps in timedemo.

Issue with P4 800Mhz FSB processor

yeah perhaps I should explain better. I have everything I need but the motherboard, the processor(s), and the memory. also I have kind of an old video card (TNT2 ultra) but it doesnt sound like video cards come into play much in editing.

I dunno if anyone out there is into DV editing, but if anyone has any suggestions for building a system to run Adobe Premiere Pro well enough for it not to be irritating as well as to capture video without dropping frames I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks guy, you guys are the best guys.
