CCNP 2010? Anyone pass this test?

I passed the new and update CCNP:Switch in early Feb, and I studied a ton for it. I had read the previous Cisco BCMSN study guides, and failed the BCMSN and was happy to find out they reworked the test and cut out much of the VoIP, and Wireless stuff. I then grabbed the Official Cisco SWITCH...

Seattle Natives - Question for you about the "Central Link"

So I just spent a long weekend in the Seattle area (had a great time! Nice city you guys have here) and rode the Cental Link, the light rail from SeaTac, up into downtown the past three days. My question is: did I have to pay for my rides? I played it safe every time and bought my pass, but...

I almost forgot how much fun an MKV 2.0T Engine is...

I don't have any direct experience with the 2.0T, but I have the 1.8T in my car (02 Passat). I got it certified pre-owned and ended up flashing it before the warranty was up, but I have no regrest. I've had zero problems with it in the 30k miles I've put on it since the flash. I went with...

    Paintball rules.... some stupid ones...

I've been a couple of times now, and witnessed the same thing. Then again I had a rental and field paint. It wasn't all that uncommon to get hit and not have it break. I remember the last time I went there were a good 3 or 4 times I got drilled but it didn't break so I stayed in. This was...

In Chicago for a week - what are some cool things to do?

Moving my little sister into college (Loyola), so I'll be out here for a little bit. I've never been to Chicago before, so I'm looking for a few suggestions on what to check out. What are the spots I need to hit? Thanks!!

What kind of speeds should I see?

Cat5e is capable of 1Gbps, perhaps if your cable is faulty you're getting intermittent packet loss resulting in a lot of retransmits, which will beat on your speeds. But I would think it would be more of an all/nothing if you had a damaged cable. But a cable is all of a few bucks, so ... meh...

    Networking/security dilemma ... should I go wireless?

Microwaves/vacuums can mess with your signal, but then again I don't have a microwave in my bathroom, so it may not be a concern ;) Wireless G is advertised as 54Mbps, but you will rarely see more than 22ish of real world throughput. Still, that's most than most broadband connections, but...

    Exchange/Outlook QoS

Exchange uses RPC, so it will start on TCP/135 and then it will jump to a random high port. This exchange (har ... har...) can be caught and ports dynamically opened/QoS rules applied if your device doing the marking is sophisticated enough. If not you can try restricting the ports that the...

Siiigh ... Missed the BCMSN again

I don't exactly have a lab per say. I was poking around on the production network at work (3750s and 3560s), just refamiliarizing myself with the show commands I would need and the configs. But I think for this next go round I should utilize a dedicated lab. So I'll probably toss 3 3560's on...

Siiigh ... Missed the BCMSN again

STP was one of the area's I studied the heaviest. I went deep into RSTP and MSTP, and there was nothing on the test about those two in particular. They did throw a sim at me asking to load balance across trunks with stp - not something I do day to day. Quite frankly I didn't know it cold, and...

Siiigh ... Missed the BCMSN again

Yep, missed it again. I improved 20 points with reading a whole new book and studying my ass off. I'm thinking it's time to take a class on test taking or something, as the knowledge is rattling around up there, it just can't seem to make it out into the test. That said, I'd sure like to not...

    Looking for cold weather boots

I can attest to wearing sneakers year round. I never had boots for my 4 years at RIT, just had to learn to walk in the right places. That said, I finally got myself a pair of boots after going to a Patriots game in the snow and slush. Never have my feet been so cold :( So now I have a nice...

What have YOU given up due to the current economic climate?

Yea my company cut 10% of the work force, and subsequently went into a hiring/salary freeze. Which is unsettling, because you don't know when/if there is another round coming, so you pull back in preparation, etc. But for me personally, I didn't cut back too much, just diverted the extra...

I have a 8500x50 and love it. I bought it when I was in college out in Western NY, and making many trips to see the gf in Albany, and or home to Maine. Seeing as the NY Thruway is mobbed with troopers it seemed like a good decision. And it was. I was able to up my cruising speed 10mph. The...

Red Sox versus Yankees. Tonite at 7pm

The Bleacher Bar is great! Getting into it is sometimes tricky though, in my experience it hits capacity very quickly, hence why I was at Cask'N Flagon. But Bleacher Bar is sweet, you're actually under/in the stadium. I bet those late inning homers coming over that way looked pretty cool :)

Since when did everything close on Easter???

Yea I did the same thing, pulled into the Target center and noticed absolutely no cars, and then did a slow pass by the doors and saw that it was closed. I guess that explains the extra light traffic today. Luckily I was still able to pick up the essentials at a 24/7 Shaws near by

What is the secret to having windshield wiper blades work perfectly?

This might be a bit extreme, but clay baring your windshield might help. It helps to remove all the tiny tiny contaminants that (if they get bad enough) could prevent the blades from making a nice flush connection with the glass.

Wow...Audi actually made a car that I find appealing to look at

I'd be interested to see what the new sport diff does for the handling of the A5. It already works magic in the new A4, so I can only assume it will do the same in Coupe guise. Here's hoping :)

Turn off IP Spoof Protection? (Cisco ASA 5505)

Oh no doubt about that! I knew what I was trying to do was a dirty kludge, I just never thought to tunnel traffic from the outside interface before. The outside interface is always "dirty" so I didn't even want to try it, but low and behold the traffic got shot over the tunnel. So we're good...

Turn off IP Spoof Protection? (Cisco ASA 5505)

Got it to work! Well not the disabling of IP Spoof, but what I actually wanted to get done. Spidey's comment made me think about it a bit differently for a sec, and it occurred to me that I never tried to send the traffic from the outside interface over the tunnel. As in my head I think...

Turn off IP Spoof Protection? (Cisco ASA 5505)

Is there a way to turn off the IP Spoofing protection in a Cisco ASA 5505? I have already turned off "ip verify reverse-path" as that was blocking the traffic initially. I was getting this in the Syslogs - "Deny TCP reverse path check from 10.245.6.1 to 192.168.6.25 on interface inside"...
