My server is running Xandros- best thing about it it's ease of use. Runs more like windows than any other distro I've tried. I'm not sure how it would fare if resources were short. My server is a P4 1.9Ghz with 256mb of ram. Its been running smooth for over a year now.
I recently found an Imac on the side of the road. To my surprise it boots and seems to run fine though I cannot access the OS due to not having the password. The Apple guy at BB suggested putting OSX 10.2 on it with the proviso that it will be slow but web content will be displayed properly. I...
OK so I'm looking for a good WOW guild. I play on the Ther'dalas (or something like that) server and haven't had any good experiences with the guilds I've seen. Anyone a member of a guild they enjoy?
Kinda sux here in NY. Best Buy is the only "decent" electronics store in my area. The only other is circuit city which usually has even worse deals. If anyone works at Fry's corporate WE NEED ONE IN NY!
" the most important thing is that XP will soon be the only client OS that will be fully supported by Microsoft. It is the only client OS that will still be evaluated for bug fixes and design changes."
That kinda hits the nail on the head- But I'll still hate the Fisher Price GUI and product...
No reseller ratings for the second website. Have you bought from them before? Does it seem like its legit to everyone. I have a good market for used lappys and could probably make some money on these...
edit:
Found this on the bottom of a product page- can't be good:
"This product was added...
Xandros is a commercial release that began life as Corel Linux. Releases are fewer than in non commercial distros such as Fedora core but they are regular.
No clue about column(?) summation sry.
Compare this with this. the net savings on the cheapest Antc case is $2.50. OK so if you had to have beige over black you would save $4.50 Sorry not very Hot. I'm seriously thinking of picking up one of the cheapo cases for like 30 bucks. Anyone have a favorite cheapo case?
Hate to say this but I'd probably stay away from Linux on that laptop unless you feel confident running outside of the GUI. Not that the GUI won't run but because alot of the set up will require going to the command line. The simplest and fastest solution will be windows 98 se.
I've had things flake out like that when I had a bad or overclocked memory chip installed. Try runing memtest86. I would also try swapping out ide ribbons. Are you using the ribbon that shipped with the new drive? You should. You also sound like you're not sure about your master/slave...
Oh god no! :Q
Try doing a search for bit torrent. I second the idea f finding someone to sell you their old copy. Alot of people have upgraded and have no use for an old windows 98 cd and would likely part with it very cheaply.
As I understand no Linux OS can safely write to ntfs. If you want a shared partition make it fat32. I run Xandros alone as a server- then make shares for my windows machines.
Quote:
To download from Debian
1. open up Xandros Networks.
2. Go to Edit and select "Set Application Sources"...
Hey I qualify for this ... just found my reciept too. I kept it because between Creative and CompUSA they screwed me out of $120 in rebates. But reading the settlement there is a very short window to act:
"The deadline to submit this Claim Form is September 22, 2005.* "
"Your claim is...
Naw, This is a full but stripped down version. It just doesn't have crossover office other non-free apps. It runs my server. If you decide to use it make sure you configure it to get applications from Debian. Alot more resources there. I also use it to browse the web while my main machine is...
They've finally upgraded the bittorrent edition (free) to 3.0. This is the only distro I've felt comfortable with moving from windows. This is the distro that started out as Corel. Link
I have one of the early Audigy 2s and I clearly remember reviews that said the exact same thing about them. I don't think the audigy line could actually do what it was claiming until like the third revision maybe ZS?
Got mine last night and this morning I got this email:
Dear valued Staples customer,
Recently, we may not have met your expectations ? or our own ? in the timely delivery of your order. At Staples, we pride ourselves on delivering an ?easy? experience, and I apologize for any inconvenience...
Hmm order status says shipped and tracking says "out for delivery". But the darn UPS truck just passed by my house without even pausing... Ha Ha Got em!
Crapola - Customer assistance is telling me that their "entire system is down" at their warehouse in NY. But the operator assured me that it will be on my doorstep tomorrow. Sounds like "the check is in the mail" or "I promise not to...."
Supposedly but some are sold with lifetime warranties. And further still I bought this particular drive for $10 (Hot Deals) for the sole purpose of installing Linux on it.
