How many hours of Prime 95 is considered "acceptable"?

I usually run prime95 for 12 hours or more. I just start it before I go to sleep and leave it running overnight and into the next day whenever I get back to the computer. Usually comes out to about 12 hours maybe a couple more sometimes. If it runs for that long without errors then I consider it...

Is this a good idea?

I dont see why not? I mean, it won't be AS portable or easy as a small usb stick, and it will have moving parts instead of flash memory, but you'll have a lot more storage. If it's what you're looking for, go for it.

I did read that the shim actually decreases this heatsink's performance by a few degrees and right now I am not using it. I also have the fan blowing down. I have tried reversing it to blow up but it resulted in a 1C increase so i switched it back.

System specs of a computer I'm building, any suggestions?

The M stands for mobile, theyre barton core cpus clocked at a 266mhz fsb for laptop applications. Many people have been able to easily overclock them to 3200+ speeds with a 400mhz fsb due to them being unlocked form the factory. I would suggest those if you want to overclock. Theyre a great value.

In terms of a brand name, I would recommend Kingston. I have 2 512mb ddr sticks in my main PC and they have been great. One was defective but Kingston RMA'ed it and sent me a replacement in less than 3 days after I shipped them the defective stick.

Chalk up another vote for PCBoost. I am running 2 - 128mb sticks of their low density generic pc133 sticks in my win2k server and they work flawlessly. As it was mentioned above, if you arent looking for anything special and just want ram to use at stock speeds, buy from them.

I dont know... the success behind the orginal aeroflow depended on the TMD fan which was able to send air right down into the middle of the heatsink due to the lack of the dead spot which normal fans have. Im not sure how the efficiency is affected now that theyve switched from the TMD.

anybody watch TV on their PC?

I also have a Leadtek Winfast 2000XP. So far it has served me well in terms of a TV tuner as well as a capture card. I have captured many older home movies off 8mm camcorder tapes without any problems, and the clarity of cable tv is excellent. Can't go wrong with this one IMO.

You can't power a 3.5" drive off a USB or FW port. You can only do that with 2.5" laptop drives. sorry, got a little ahead of myself. i actually was talking about some of the 2.5in external "pocket drives" that they offer on that site although theyre not the size he wants.

I recently bought an 160 gig 7200rpm external HD from here for $160 with free shipping. I noticed that they also sell the enclosure itself if thats all you want. The description does say that it is capable of self power, and their external drive prices are tough to beat. Might want to check them...

How would the audigy not like the overclock though? I have heard of other people with SB audigys and the same board overclocking and they dont have a problem? Although I will suggest that he returns the cpu to its stock speed and see if it goes away. Thanks.
