Yup I also tried the 428's and the 439 are a whole leage above them and majorly more comfortable too. The 428's were painful in a relativley short time.
I got these Hd439 refurbs from VMInnovations for $45.xx with a 5% coupon found after liking them on FB.
They look new and come with both...
Thanks, I will try switching around the fans that are PWM controlled.
I only have two PWM headers on this MB, so will pair the CM 212 fan with one of the Arctic fans. And leave the other Arctic fan on it's own.
The other thing I will try is to flex mount some of the fans using two cable ties...
Hi there,
I just transplanted and upgraded from my beloved Lian Li to el cheapo case to take advantage of 120mm fans and normal front-to-back airflow. Here's what I've swapped out so far:
LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII >> CoolerMaster 431 Elite Plus
AMD Phenom 925 2.8Ghz (95w) >> Amd Phenom 970 3.5Ghz...
I let it slip by, the listing just ended with zero bids.
Chip was up for grabs at a few cents over $100 shipped.
The seller had overclocked it for a month or two. And also had zero seller feedback.
Too risky, shame I really want to get this chip at this price!
Thanks for the input guys.
Thanks, I was just thinking of buying a used FX 6300 on fleabay and thought I'd check first!
Glad I did, I was thinking it was like a hard drive where the warranty stays with the drive regardless of ownership.
BTW I just bought a 'used' new Asus M5A97 EVO motherboard (a warranty replacement)...
Just wondering how does AMD determine warranty coverage?
Specifically in the case of my buying a used boxed CPU.
Do they go from the date code / serial number (like a hard drive RMA) or require receipts etc?
Thanks,
Not sure if the OP purchased yet but unless he has a MicroCenter nearby it may be worth waiting for a week or so as AMD is apparently dropping the price of the FX-6300 by ~15% by the end of this month.
I'm patiently waiting for this so I can grab one at around $105 is my estimate :)
No...
I just transplanted a new motherboard in my computer, went well even after not doing a clean instal of Windows 7 64. And that was with a completely different chipset.
And I also upgraded my ram to 16GB
Anyhow I got a 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive and was wondering how to test it out and a light bulb...
I have an old T60 laptop and it currently dual boots XP and Win 7 Pro.
When I went to install Win 7 I tried to use 64 bit but it could only take the 32 bit version.
Now your T61 may be able to accept 64bit but I would suspect that you will also be stuck with 32 bit. Works fine on mine, which...
Thank you hamunaptra
The thing I needed to change was the setting in Bios SATA Controller to IDE.
And it booted immediately, I think I overcomplicated this now seeing how simple it was.
Thanks again
Thanks Jack but that's $80 which is more than my entire upgrade is going to cost.
Keeping it cheap!
I have Terabyte 'Image for Windows' and just found out it can:
"Hardware Independent Restore - Restore Windows to completely different hardware and then use the TeraByte OSD Tool Suite to...
I should have taken this advice above! HaHa
Had problems and my wireless card refused to work. Now back on the old motherboard. Wireless card still not working (weird, worked rock solid for 2 1/2 years and take it out and poof no more wireless Rosewill-RNX-N180PCe)...awaiting new one. In the...
I found the answer, not sure if I am allowed to post a link to 7 forums here. If not please just delete link mods :)

Hi there,
Wondering if this is possible (trying to avoid doing a whole new instal):
Windows 7 64bit
I want to install my existing C drive on a new motherboard?
The old vs new MB's are different chipsets;
Old (Asus M2N-E - DDR2): NVidia
New (Asus M5A97 - DDR3): AMD
Processor will be the...
Thanks guys...
Got the board today, sweet looks brand new (it's a Asus warranty replacement/refurb I bought on Ebay). Checked the warranty and it's good till Dec 2014. nice deal for $57 :)

Actually looking at the FX 6 core and seeing it's really a 3 core...
Might just stick with the 925 for a little bit and see if there's a noticeable difference and then go to the 8 core FX when...
Thx IC,
That a great point and it is important to keep idle temps down.
So I will go with the FX.
I also plan to make this PC as quiet as possible...
Already have a fanless video card, it's a Lian Li case which is fairly quiet with the top exhaust fan unplugged (I just pulled it today...
Hey there,
Finally upgrading my Asus M2N-E after 6 years and at least 3 processors :)
Currently using a Phenom II 925 X4 (2.8Ghz)
Have bought a refurb Asus M5A97 EVO and 16 GB of 1866 DDR3 Ram and wondering about better CPU...
FX-6100 3.3Ghz - $105
Phenom 1045T1055T 2.7Ghz - $100...
I have the same issue
I suspect it might be because I am using an oldish video card. A geforce 8600 gts. That doesn't support DX11
Drivers are up to date.
Windows 7 64 bit
8 gig matched ram
AMD Phenom II X4 925
Asus M2N-E
OK this is weird..
Whenever my computer comes out of sleep I have to wait maybe 20 seconds before I can use the keyboard. It is a bit like during boot up when the keyboard illumination comes on briefly and then goes out and back on, at which point it is responsive and works.
My keyboard is...
Strange how MS discs refuse to be recognized in such a popular DVD Drive!
I had to download a copy (full retail) and install with my retail (Upgrade) key. It worked!
Hi,
I was testing an old Athlon 1133/266 in my Gigabyte 7N400-L (F-11 Bios)
I attached the HSF with thermal paste etc...
Set the MB for FSB-100 and auto on the jumpers - thinking this is the safest - I couldn't remember if the Athlon was a 200 or 266 Mhz....
Anyhow as soon as I power up...
Thank you WW,
That makes sense. So at least I know that my 3200 is only running a few degrees hotter than the 2400.
It's settled down to 42c (by the socket method) and 57c bt onchip diode method :)
I noticed looking at the AMD specs that the XP3000/400 runs at a similar thermal spec to...
I just bought a Gigabyte 7N400-L for $36 shipped...works perfectly.
The only issue was that it came tightly squashed in a small box with no battery or anything else!
The board does seem to have a "bow" in it around the memory slots (middle of mem slots are lower than edges) but it doesn't...
I just got an XP3200 (eBay cheap deal! - $95 :) to upgrade my XP2400 on a Gigabyte 7N400-L
With the XP2400 the CPU temp was around 40c
upon booting up I went into the BIOS and the reading was 60c and climbing...I almost has a baby!
I took the whole MB out and cleaned all surfaces and did...
I have a 9700 Pro in my freshly installed XP computer, got another 9700 Pro cheap and installed it to check it out and the drivers didn't recognise the card?
So I reinstalled latest 6.14.10.6476 driver straight over the top again and now it shows up as the same card now?
My question is...
I've been waiting for these to come available, love the hardware firewall :)
Are Epox any good?
