Netgear vs Linksys, which NIC should I use???

Missing ODBC32.DLL and Tweakui problem

If you have downloaded the most recent MS "Critical Updates", you are likely to have the shortcut arrow problem. There is at least one thread in the forums discussing this annoying new little Microsoft "feature". I'm not aware of a solution.

It'll be fine, and you'll like it. I'd be disabling that *#* onboard sound before I even installed an OS. I got no joy out of that whatsoever.

8kha+ does not support ECC, but appears to run Crucial DDR with ECC chip just fine. I ordered 256mb of same in error, said to myself, "Self, WTF," and stuck it in. No problemo.

What do you know about the Hercules Fortissimo II?

Both the Fortissimo and the even less expensive MuseXL do very fine 4.1 sound on a budget. I own both. The sound is indistinguishable. Do you need the extra features of the Fortissimo?

How is the onboard audio on the 8KHA+ ?

For me the onboard sound was worse than useless. Attempting to use it in any fashion slowed my system progressively to full lock-up over 15-20 min. Otherwise the board is excellent. For your usage a Guillemot MuseXL from NewEgg will give most excellent 4.1 sound for under $20.

Processor at %100 usage all the time?

I find the same 100% usage when I run MS Access databases. I think only lately, and only on systems with K7 processors. Heats the cpu up more than Prime95. I'd love to see an explanation for this.

CD Burning Software that works for non-Admin users in 2000 and XP

A smell coming from my computer that smells like something is ready to be taken out of the oven.

If your CPU is cooking slowly your computer will lock up or fatal error before the chip is fatally damaged. If it cooks rapidly the computer just dies. A cooking odor seems common in new gear. The one I worry about is the sudden whiff of "It should have been taken out of the oven a while...

Can anyone explain to me why Netgear NIC's are incompatible with the Epox 8K7A motherboards? Do Iwill KK266-R have problems similar to this?

Tweak UI not auto-logging me in under Windows ME anymore

I've had this happen on several computers with W98 & a couple of versions of TweakUI. I've tried the same sorts of solutions without any lasting benefit, and usually no benefit at all.

If you do the MS Update website thing you will be just as far ahead as if you go to 98SE, except for ICS, which is an OK reason to go to SE if you need it. Otherwise stay where you are.

Anyone here use PC-cillin antivirus ?

I have been using PCcillin for about a year now - I also find it fast and easy on resources. It rates pretty high in overall virus detection too. Your copy will give you a "Time to buy a real copy" message in about 90 days, however.
