What about setting your home page, and new tab page, www.google.com. That page normally displays a gmail link in the upper right corner of the page. Just click it to open your email.
I bought a laptop with Win 8 in early March 2013, about 6 months ago. I'm wondering why you say it's "barely acceptable on a laptop." My laptop does not have a touch screen but a mouse works quite well for navigating the Start screen. Using the mouse wheel quickly scrolls the tiles on the...
If I understand you correctly, I disagree. I have Office 2007 installed on my Windows 7 desktop PC and my Windows 8 laptop and I get updates for Office 2007 practically every time I get Windows updates.
When you first start up after connecting both monitors, you'll need to open Display Properties, click the Settings tab, select the second monitor, and check the box for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor."
Well, if he formats the Windows partition, he'll most likely have to reinstall all programs, whether they were originally installed on the OS partiton or another partition.
By the way, I disagree that installing programs on other partitions, if that's what you mean by "drives", is a "bad...
I wouldn't be surprised if that as good as you're going to find since you need the low profile card. Wait, here's one that might be a better choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814129107
I use nVidia and haven't followed the ATI product line, so I can't say where this card...
I don't know; I think I'd want to test that on a computer running that OS, if possible. Otherwise, you might be disappointed.
This seems a challenging situation. 64MB is a *HUGE* Excel file, so I'm not surprised that his computer is struggling with it. Could you test that file on a desktop...
That may be true, but doesn't that normally happen automatically? What I see with Outlook 2003 is that any Contacts folder containing contacts with email addresses appears when selecting an addressee. And, I did not use your procedure to make it do that, IIRC.
I'm skeptical about this being a legitimate offer. http://www.microsoft.com/education/ultimatesteal.mspx says, "Individual must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request."...
Do you have a wireless router? Is the printer connected to it? Do you have wireless security, i.e. WPA, enabled on the router? If not, I think doing so would solve this problem.
As usual, a discussion of this topic is almost entirely based on comments by gamers. I'm not a gamer and don't completely agree with the comment above that "most people who still have an AGP card now are not the type of people to upgrade components". I recently bought an EVGA AGP card (nVidia...
I'm not a gamer but I'll mention this one with a $20 rebate, making it a very lost cost card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130207 I have basically the same card except mine has 256MB. Bought it from newegg but I see they don't have it listed now.
You're complaining about the requirement of proof of purchase? Man, that's surely a common requirement. And, it's just common sense.
This discussion indicates different people have different experiences with different vendors. I had a positive experience with PNY when I RMA'd a flash drive.
I have some doubt about that. I believe everyone needs to read the fine print to be sure they're complying with any requirements for warranty coverage.
If you have an empty PCI slot, here's a solution. Get a USB PCI card and install it in a PCI slot. The key here is to get a card which has pin connectors for the front USB panels. Many such cards do not have that feature; they just add USB ports at the back of the computer, and maybe also...
So, you're saying that if you opened, say, yahoo.com, in Outlook, that 2-3 seconds to do that is ridiculous? How long would it take to render in your browser?
Are you talking about emails with text only, HTML emails with graphics, or exactly what?
Well, if this is a matter of having the convenience of connecting to a USB port without having to reach to the back of the computer, a simple, inexpensive solution is a USB extension cable. Just leave it plugged into a back port and you've basically added a front port.
I was a little skeptical about the smaller size mice I see promoted as mice for laptops and notebook PC s but I bought one, a Logitech V220, and I like it. In no way is it a "POS". Or, take a look at the V320.
I agree with Harvey. But, if you have strong reasons you want to upgrade your OS to Vista and you want to keep the cost of a video card as low as possible, look for rebate deals such as this $20 rebate offer which expires at midnight 12/31/07...
I'm no expert on LCD monitors but, based on looking at specs on 17" and 19" monitors on newegg.com, I get the impression larger monitors should have higher contrast ratios. Again, that's just my observation; I see more quite a few 17" monitors with 500:1 ratio but most 19" monitors have a...
Well, he would not need two dual output cards unless he thinks he might want to add a fourth monitor. For three monitors, he could use one dual output card and one single output card.
I agree with that. I'm running dual monitors, using a separate video card (1-AGP [Fx5200], 1-PCI[GeForce4 MX440]) for each monitor. But, I've had three monitors connected by adding yet another PCI card (GeForce2 MX200); that was basically just a test and it worked fine; I don't have enough...
