2 completely different drives, yes, and I've tried both USB ports. The drives work occasionally, probably less than 10% though. I basically have to just keep plugging them in and cross my fingers.

They show up on my mac mini, but not my wife's MBP. Mini is on 10.7, MBP is on 10.6. O_o. It's Fat32

I just picked up an 1155 mobo for my new i5. I'm using an oldish PSU, a Corsair 450w ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139003 ). The mobo has an 8-pin 12V socket which in the manual is labeled ATX 12v v1 The PSU is, apparently ATX 12v v2.2, and has two 4-pin 12v connectors...

Mac mini locking up after a long idle time

Alright, so despite removing LCC entirely, the system locked up again some time last night. dmesg no longer has the Logitech errors, just a bunch of normal looking output. At this point I am at a complete loss. Anyone have any other ideas? What kind of support (or lack thereof) can I expect...

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm gonna get the proc. FWIW, I noticed that my catalog (main database file) was sitting on my oldest, slowest hard-drive for some reason; I've moved it over to the newest and I've actually noticed a decent speed gain with certain stuff already.

What's my bottleneck in Lightroom?

I've got a 9800GT, which has been fine running pretty much all new games at 1920x1200, so I don't think it's that, but I could be wrong. I don't hear a fan speedup but then I can't hear my fan at all even maxed out, my system is super-quiet :)

Are you sure about the ram thing? LR is only taking up 500mb max and leaving nearly 2GB free when nothing else is running but Firefox, and as mentioned, the CPU maxes out when I start editing. The HD is a Samsung 2504 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152025 ) SATA 8mb 3gbps...

Note that as I move sliders around on zoom in on pictures in LR my CPU usage spikes and often maxes out, so I'd wager it's safe to assume that the proc is the biggest bottleneck right now, but I'd love for people that know more than me to confirm that this would be the best move right now over...

Eee Box vs Eee PC for headless server at home

The answer is, no, it's not exactly EASY to install XP pro on the thing, but it is certainly possible, there are just a lot of wacky steps involved. But it can certainly be done from a thumb drive, mine is humming away on the wall right now. What a lovely little box this thing.

Well, once again I've subbed in an old 7600gt and everything is running perfectly. I'm back on with my plan of RMAing the ATi and getting a 9800gt, I'll let you guys know what happens. I feel pretty confident about it. Thanks for the help.

Yep, different IRQ. It would work on and off on the other installs too. Sometimes it would boot, sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes it would get past the windows loading bar but then would just be black and stay black and I needed to hard reset. It booted into safe mode perfectly 100% of the time...
