I carry a large backpack full of photographic equipment.
I walk around looking like an idiot.
After an entire day, my shoulders are sore.
Repeat.

Yup, that's also a good camera to consider. Only two things that I didn't like about the unit when I handled it -
i) handled more like a toy than a camera (like some weird gizmo out of a 70's sci-fi movie)
ii) proprietary Minolta flash hot shoe
However it does score where it counts - AF speed...
Hmm... I'll probably get hammered for suggesting this... but if you're looking to take shots at sporting events, you'll need something long and fast (in both optics and autofocus department). So may I suggest a Fujifilm Finepix S7000 instead of the usual Canon P&S suggestions?
Me and my friends...
Well, if you're referring to the built-in flash... they've never been ideal for macros anyway. You'd be better off with an external flash. The sample shots on DPReview show that the camera is compatible with the MT-24EX macro flash... that's an ideal setup but $$$$$

Crash bugs from memory leaks... they are sooo hard to track especially when it's someone else's object that's screwing up my objects. :|
errr... wait... different bug... :P
For me it would be flying, stinging bugs like bees and wasps and stuff... cockroaches too... not sure about spiders...
Any of the Canon Speedlite series should do... try checking B&H to get a rough idea of pricing. Generally, you want to use stick to a Canon Speedlite for its TTL capabilities.
:)atwl
Correct - macro at telephoto increases working distance, which also helps eliminate/reduce flash shadow. Actually almost all macro shots taken with add-on lenses (e.g. close-up & macro filters) will give you the highest magnification at full telephoto and manually focused to infinity.
:)atwl
I would recommend a Canon Speedlite for its TTL features - the 420EX should be powerful enough for the G5... or if you want full manual control or an advanced multi-flash setup then the 550EX would be the way to go.

Okay, a disclaimer first - I'm just an amateur photographer and I have to admit that portraiture is one of my weaker sides.
So I generally agree with what most of the other posters here have mentioned - that the photographer isn't good and that it's a good thing that you're working with another...
Yeah usually being sick sucks but at the moment I wish I had the flu so that I could get off from work for a couple of days.... :brokenheart: :(
:)atwl
If you're taking shots like that then I'd suggest getting a camera with fast lens and/or usable high ISO pictures. A digital Rebel with 50mm f/1.8 lens or 50mm f/2.5 compact macro would help quite a bit - this combo is both fast and delivers good high ISO images.

I was referring to Peter Jackson shooting the scene... if he was so bold as to do the dead army (which turned out rather silly on screen IMHO) why didn't he shoot the Scouring of the Shire too (another silly concept *if* rendered on big screen)?
:)atwl
LOTR for me, although I didn't really like RoTK as much. The dead army was just too fake and the idea (although fine on paper) was very silly on screen. Heck, since they already shot the dead army, I wonder why the didn't go all the way and also do the Scouring of the Shire too?

Err guys... according to my friend... in the past (before the Republic), a dark jedi and his apprentice could annihilate an entire star system... :Q

I'm on the verge of catching one these few days... so I've been taking my vitamins and watching my diet so hopefully I'll still hold up and avoid it altogether.

The advantage of retail printing services is that they're cheap and convenient if you have a lot to print.
The advantage of printing at home is that you don't have to leave the house :D and you have much better control over the print (colour, tone, etc.) - but then again remember that famous...
Could be sound card driver bug? I used to have an SB Live 5.1 which, when connected to the speakers via analogue cables, had that problem but not when connected to the speakers via digital DIN.

I just bought the CP-200. The Win2k/XP drivers sux, even the latest ones downloaded from Canon's website! It cannot print from my WinXP Pro machine because for some reason it fails to display a list of selectable paper types. This also happens on my WinXP Home laptop.
However it works fine on...
I still have some pics printed by the DPP-EX7 in February this year, kept in a photo album and they are still in perfect condition with no noticeable fading. Also I've lurked in the Printers and Printing forums at
DPReview for a while reading about users' comments on dye sub's longevity and so...
I have the HP Photosmart 130 and it's only good for samples or tests, not something that you'd want to archive or sell.
If you're looking to get a 4x6 photo printer, go for a dye sub rather than an inkjet. Consumables may cost more but the end results are more durable.
I've tested the Sony...
I just use EAC/LAME to handle ripping and encoding, and use PlayCenter only for transferring music. I want to take advantage of the smart volume on the player, so for me PlayCenter is the only way to go.
I... can... READ!!! :Q :Q :Q

Canon i950 owner here - each of the printer's six colours come in a separate cartridge. Photo quality is awesome. But it is not without issues; some browsing at the printer forums at www.dpreview.com will uncover some facts:
- Printing on some papers (such as Photo Paper Pro) and in the right...

Welcome to the club! ;)
Although not in Tech Support, I'm currently also dealing with customers who apparently have extremely low IQs and are too lazy to RTFM. :disgust:

It was the full frame disc that died... I couldn't see any holes on the label side - had to hold it up towards a light in order to see the holes properly.
I think I'll give the widescreen disc a try this weekend and hope that this is just an isolated incident....
:)atwl
Thanks for the initial replies.
I don't think that it is any sort of spill, fungus or deterioration, though. I always store my DVDs in their original case and keep them in a cabinet away from sunlight and moisture. Furthermore the DVD was fine when I popped the disc in, so I suspect something...
