  1. Where will Irma make landfall? Please post your predictions

Residing in the Space Coast area and have most things stocked up. Still need to nab some AA/AAA batteries though. The high pressure system to the east of Florida is dissipating due to a through. It is what was keeping Irma from turning northward. Current projections are showing an earlier and...
  2. Civ 6 Announcement and Date

Surprised no updates since was released at midnight last night. Hoping for some posts here after the weekend gaming warriors take a crack at it.
  3. The nature to be conned

A good lie is easier to believe than the truth. (Unofficial Rule of Acquisition from the Ferengi Commerce Authority)
  4. Do you guys love your hot sauces?

Always liked the Blair's Death line of sauces. More specifically their Salsa de la Muerte level. Good blend of heat and flavor and it is my version of ketchup (have not used actual ketchup in last 10+ years). Go through a bottle of the stuff per week.
  5. Are pressure cookers a substitute for slow cookers?

Pulled the trigger and bought an Instant Pot 50 model (1 quart smaller than the 60) and the glass lid for it for slow cooking. Nice to replace two old units with the IP. Am impressed with how little you have to monitor it unlike the stove top models and much quieter to boot. Does take...
  6. Oh i love chunky monkey icecream from Ben & Jerry's so much.

My only issue with Ben&Jerry's is the same issue I have with deserts in restaurants. 90+% of the selection contains chocolate in one way or another. That said, I like the Buttered Pecan the most. Sadly you will NEVER find it outside of their shops, and will sometimes have to ask for it since...
  7. Killing houseflies with a (table) salt shotgun

Have the 1.0 model and still works fine, but have not used it too much other than in the garage round the trashcans. It really only spits out a small pinch of salt and due to shotgun blast is gets spread out over a wide range that you will never have "piles" of salt lying round.
  8. Why did Demo's for PC games die?

Extra Credits Video on Demos The above video talks about how demos. Do know they go into why it is becoming more uncommon for a demo for a game to be released.
  9. GTA 5 to look way better on PC.

Last I heard April 14th is the release date, but was about a month ago I checked on it.
  10. McDonald's sales down 4% YoY in the US

Could this be an indicator that the economy for the lower/middle class be rising? Recall reading that places like McD and WalMart tend to do better when the economy is rough, is this the possible opposite?
  11. Local & FOX News have most trusted coverage according to new Q poll

PBS is not part of the poll, and from other polls that include it, it usually is the winner (even over Fox News).
  12. Star Trek Armada III mod for Sins of a Solar Empire

Major update to the mod was released 12/15/2014 that added Cardassian race (which you can research full Cardassian or Card/Dominion alliance). Plus they did a lot of re-balancing Federation, Klingons, Romulans and Borg and added a boatload of new content.
  13. House Spending Bill - goodbye contribution limits

Some other gems: $479 MILLION FOR WARPLANES THAT THE PENTAGON DIDN’T ASK FOR 93 MILLION CUT FROM THE WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN (WIC) NUTRITION PROGRAM THE BILL THAT CITIGROUP WROTE http://bulletin.represent.us/5-awful-things-congress-snuck-omnibus-budget-deal The portions written by...
  14. Space genre reborn

I bought Sins when it was on a full package sale, so I got the DLC with it. That said, I am pretty sure you only need the base Sins game for the mod to work. Link to the mod and dev diaries on the upcoming changes: http://www.moddb.com/mods/star-trek-armada-3 They currently have Romulan...
  15. Space genre reborn

Just on the off chance that you are a fan of Star Trek? If so, would recommend the Star Trek Armada 3 mod for Sins. That mod alone turned 12 hours of base gameplay to over 100 for me.
  16. And for your Dose of Ebola Happy News.

Has anyone else involuntarily used hand sanitizier during the course of reading this thread? (Not to say that it would be effective against Ebola, probably wouldn't. Was just merely curious if if anyone else did.)
  17. Grocery shopping: Do you buy brand names or generic?

Publix's store brand tends to be pretty good overall. In most cases, I consider the name brand price premium as me donating to their bloated advertising department only.
  18. How's the Crucial MX100?

Noticed a very minor performance bump coming from an Intel 160GB 320 model to the mx100 512GB. Just for giggles I reran the Windows Experience Index "benchmark" and went from 7.6 to 7.9. Think what performance difference I noticed came from the SATA III and the better transfer rates from the...
  19. **OFFICIAL** Diablo 3 Thread

The AH was one of the primary reasons they stated that the game require a continual online connection. With that being removed yet leaving the online component intact I am going to give this a pass.
  20. polar vortex the sequel

I prefer the term "Bipolar Vortex" instead of "Polar Vortex The Sequel".
  21. Star Citizen: Chris Robert`s new space sim (the Wing Commander guy)

Am a long time fan of the Wing Commander series with Privateer being my favorite of the lot. That said, is anyone else getting kind of hesitant on the sheer amount of $$$ being tossed about purchasing ships (albeit under the name of crowdfunding). I am not stating that this is bad path for...
  22. Favorite hot sauce?

Blair's Salsa de la Muerte (the export version of their Original Death Sauce that contains 2x the peppers), I use that as my 'ketchup'.
  23. Home Insurance Policy/Deductable Questions

I would admit that is generally true for the area since prices went nutty in the 2007 area. In my case I bought the house for 84k in 2004 (was not needing a house immediatly but saw writing on wall) and according to "experts" it appreciated up to $166k during the craze. Now it is back to high...
  24. Home Insurance Policy/Deductable Questions

Well this is Florida, so housing values and materials are not too bad in general. As for competition, well there is none. It usually is a minor miracle to find one company to write a policy let alone two different ones. Plus they seem to all using the same 'replacement-value' estimator...
  25. Home Insurance Policy/Deductable Questions

Why is it that companies that write home insurance policies get to dictate the "replacement amount" of the house and its contents with no recourse from the policy holder? Why would a market value house of 74k with 20k (generous) of belongings inside require a $188k policy with $94k belongings...
  26. Diablo 3 Expansion announced!

I have to give Blizzard credit. Never before has a company gone from from 'shut up and take my money' to 'no deal at any price'.
  27. I finally had a Voodoo Donut a few weeks ago

Maybe because both contains the term "Voodoo Doughnut" and I did not know there was an actual chain called "Voodoo Doughnut". After Google search, I find there are 3 locations all in Oregon. So now how could I possibly initially mistook "Voodoo Doughtnut" beer that is sold in hundreds of...
  28. I finally had a Voodoo Donut a few weeks ago

Was expecting a discussion of Rogue's Voodoo beer line. More specifically the Rogue Voodoo Maple Bacon Doughnut one.
  29. New Nexus 7 - Google are going to eat Apple's lunch

Do you have any Best Buy's nearby? Appears they must of got a good allotment of them. All 10 of the stores within 80 miles of me have the 32GBs in stock (central Florida area).
  30. NPR is going downhill

I take full blame for the cancellation of "It's All Politics". I have a known track record of discovering shows/series right before cancellations. I came across the blog about three weeks ago while bored surfing around on Roku. That show seemed pretty even handed and straight forward in...
  31. **OFFICIAL** Diablo 3 Thread

Shelved this game over a year ago in hopes to revisit after giving Blizzard a good chance to either fix the gameplay via patches or expansions. Gave up waiting and uninstalled. Never thought I would see the day that Blizzard would be on my "purchase with extreme caution" list.
  32. Borderlands 2 release date and preorder

The codes being posted are for Gearbox SHiFT service/membership (or however the capitalization goes for it). Which gives you keys to open the golden chest in Sanctuary.
  33. Hard apple cider

Good choice ViperGTS, but may want to give OP a heads up that Woodchuck Bourbon select is only produced in December. The supply has pretty much dried up now that it is April. On the flip side Woodchuck's Summer cider just came out and is the best of the 4 season themed ciders from Woodchuck...
  34. Buy through Uplay or Steam that runs Uplay?

I would buy the copy that does not need Uplay, but that is just me. Even though that is not one of the options listed.
  35. Ultrasonic transucers

Have not messed with them in almost 15 years. They were pretty easy to use. The UT modules usually have a voltage and ground lines and a single send/receive line. You would send a quick send blip on the send/receive line and then would check for a return voltage blip on the line. In my case...
  36. Fallout 4

Well there is always fallout Online 2238 if you are willing to try a new twist on a nostalgic classic to pass the time for F4. Basically they took F2 and made it multiplayer online kind of like old school Ultima Online style. It is practically in perma beta, but I found it diverting.
  37. Sim City 5

So they adopting the Blizzard approach to beta testing? Hope this does not turn out the same where all the focus is placed at the start of the game while the end game (larger cities) is never tested.
  38. Chicago wants to ban large energy drinks.

Once Taco Bell wins the fast food wars this will get all sorted out.
  39. Is yours 12 inches?

Worked at Subway over 15 years ago. The main reason of shorter subs is not post baking compression (if it does get compressed it wont be at the ends, it will become flatter). What happens is the bread dough sticks come in frozen in boxes. The frozen dough sticks are usually 11-12 inches, but...
