Can anyone tell why this 12gb RAM kit is so cheap?

What's the coolest, lowest power cpu right now?

^^ I guess it will be random but in fairly large chunks, assuming the installer doesn't copy files to the disk using small KB size writes.

I posted about this card a few pages back, although mine hated VIA chipset motherboards and worked for max 10 minutes in 3D games before locking up the whole PC. Bad times.

Thanks for the heads up. This is one of the first tool I download and run on my new systems. I am sure the old versions had a validation option too. This new layout seems like a widescreen version. :)

Also the Nvidia 8600 GTS. Just a weakling of a card but it was my fault for not reading properly before purchasing. I thought GTS would be better than GT version. Oh, how wrong I was. :D Now I have a Radeon 4770. Best purchase of this year, so far.

X25-M delay on resume from sleep

Seems like a OS or driver problem to me. I have X25-M in my Dell Studio 1555 laptop and I haven't noticed any such issue.

I will give that a try Insidious. Also do you know what's the best way to stop the F@H SMP client? I have been using CTRL + C and that seems to produce the following warning next time when I start the cilent. Closing the console window has the same problem.

Does anyone know what causes the following error? I have to constantly keep monitoring the logs and restart the client when this happens as it just stalls. Interestingly it's still using CPU time but not really working on the unit, so a bit hard to spot without looking at the logs...

Cost of distributed computing, over 150$ per year per computer!

I think the previous poster was meaning to say that 700watts for a TV is a lot. Yes, dryers use a lot of power (watts) but in most houses TVs are on for a longer period than those appliances. I definitely wouldn't buy a TV that pulled 700 watts, no matter how good it was. 200-300w is ok.

Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme

QFT. I didn't realize how bad the socket 775 push-pin mounting mechanism was until I got myself a cooler with a backplate. Even the stock Intel cooler bends the motherboard considerably.

Normal Idle temps on stock HSF for Q6600?

When I got my Q6600 my idle temps were between 39-42c at ambient of 24c. Load went as far as 72c! So your idle temps look a bit high to me but I cleaned up the thermal pad type material from the stock cooler and used Arctic Ceramique instead.

85-88W runs this entire system

Interesting. I just looked around in the BIOS and the only setting that enabled was USB power on from S3, which I disabled and then restarted. Still got 23W. Even worse when I switch off the PSU using the switch at the back of the PSU it was till drawing 11W. I guess the Silverstone ST50EF Plus...

Q6600 B3 stock @ 71C prime95, too hot?

The E6600 dual core Dell machine (Dimension E5xx something) I use at work has pretty good mid-tower case with front intake fan. Prime95 load temps of 46C. :)

I don't think 70C is bad or even unusual for Quad chips with stock cooler. My G0 revision Q6600 used to have Prime95 load temps of 72-75C at around 24C ambient with stock heatsink and no overclock. Adding a couple of noisy case fans would lower it to around 67C. I got rid of the stock...

Just tried 'shutdown -s' on my IP35 board and it worked without problems. Running 32 bit XP Pro with SP2 and all patches upto December. Not really sure what BIOS version it has but I haven't flashed it so far, so it's just the default.

How low can you go?

1.22v is the lowest my board (Abit IP35) allows me to go. My 6600 overclocked to 3Ghz just by changing the FSB from 266 to 333Mhz. I have a Thermalright 128-SE cooler with Panaflo H1BX fan (undevolted) and Prime95 load temp is ~ 53-55C at around 24C ambient.

Cheers, Serpent. I am running all three fans now with the 3 pin BIOS setting. Haven't tried connecting the two Scythe case fans in parallel, so I will give that a try.
