Any first-hand experience on the impact of low RPM "Green" Drives as storage drives?

Everyone seems to be raving about those WD green drives. Isn't there any way to prevent them from spinning down so often, or is that a feature built into the firmware? That said, it might not be a big deal since these are going to be on a remote server and so I'll be restricted to Gigabit LAN...

Yes, that's the case that I have, except that I turned the HDD chassis so that it's pointing forward for better airflow. Also, I removed the panel that separates the PSU from the rest of the case as I felt it was un-needed. The PSU pulls cool air from the bottom of the case and vents it out...

I have a Thermaltake Element S, so there is tons of room. I have stock fans, 1 120 in the back, 1 in the front and a 240 on top. Case temps, not really sure. I don't have anything to monitor ambient temps, but CPU temps are usually around 45c per core.

Looking for cheapest Intel-based build for Photoshop CS5.

So my next question has to do with the on-die video processor. I noticed that A LOT of 1155 boards don't have VGA or DVI ports, why is this if the video processing can be done right on the die? I would expect them to all come equipped with some kind of video port to provide that functionality...

What do you mean? USB 3.0 ports are already found on most major motherboards. I don't understand the difference. I thought it would be for a throughput advantage, but really, using PCIe lanes...who cares?

I've seen on a few forums posts that using these is not suggested. Apparently it causes the cable run to be outside the specification lengths of the PSU. Is this true? Can extending the 24-pin and 4-pin connectors lead to damage to the motherboard?

The Zotac board was actually one of the ones that I was looking at. That said, I don't like where the 24-pin connector is. I don't think the one from my power supply will reach. Is there any way to extend the 24-pin and 4-pin mobo connectors?

Actually yeah, when I got home the microwave had reset, but everything else seemed fine. That said my entire rig is hooked up to a pretty beefy surge protector. None of the other components connected seem tone damaged.

Is this possible? I'm looking to put the 4 prong ATX connector behind the motherboard tray, but there is not enough room in the case. Is it possible to put it directly behind the motherboard? There's enough clearance room, and the wiring is individually sheathed with a mesh coating over it.
