I downloaded the drivers from Fileshack.com and installed them...uninstalled the others first. I noticed some improvement. I am able to use 4x agp now but i cant set it to 8x even though it is set to 8x in the bios.

Ok ive done what you said and i am still running essentially with no agp. I installed the new chipset drivers, then uninstalled the catalyst drivers, reinstalled them, and then reinstalled Directx 9.0b.
You can tell Norton Ghost to 'split' the image into chunks....like 600-700 mb. Then burn those on cdr. Then you need a bootable Norton Ghost floppy with cdrom drivers. Then when you boot up you can choose to load an image from cd.

I've done everything mentioned above with Norton Ghost 2k3. You can create various bootdisks. However i havent used Trueimage so it maybe easier to use. If you decide to use Norton Ghost let me know if you need help.
Hmmm i will look into this. Ghost 7 is great...that is what i still use nice and simple. How about creating a network bootdisk using 2003??? The ghost book disk is so primitive it's weird it wont comply with the 2003 executables.
I have the same board and processor and i have never had problems. I just go to the BIOS and hit F3: Detect ALL HDD. I currently have 2 120s and a 40 on that mobo and no problems. However i have added drives and they h\did not appear in the bios but XP is smart enough that it still recognizes...

These phantom dvd drives...do you have any custom software installed like image loaders or video players??? Sometimes this software adds a virtual drive that appears there but is just present for the application.
I have a Ati 9600 pro vid card. When i run SisoftSandra it say that i am not utilizing my agp...i am only using 1X agp. I enabled it in the bios to 8X....i installed the newest drivers. My board is the AK77-Max 8X. I am stumped..so any help would be much appreciated.
