I have an account at the overclockers forum but I can't seem to activate my account. I get NO emails from them. On my university account or my verizon.net email accounts. I have emailed Skip (one of the admins) but haven't heard anything for 3-4 days.
Is there any way I can contact the...
Why can't everyone get along. In my logic it doesn't make sense to buy that intel system and not the mobile barton.
The reason I see the choice for intel is:
"Well just because I want a budget system doesn't mean I want to go buy some cheap thing. This system will be for games, but I will...
ReplayTv, Go for the lifetime warrantee. 5040 model so you have commercial advance :) The files replay uses are almost basic mpeg2 files and you can burn dvds fairly easily by using the ethernet port on the replaytv :)
First of all I'd like to say I have about 4 papst fans laying around and will be modifying my system shortly.
I'm going to throw two in the power supply and remove all exausts behind the case..(mounting my res where the exaust fans are on the back. Easy filling :) ) the psu also sucks out...
The pump is the only thing that is 1/2" ID? You can buy replacement barbs I know for most pumps at a local plumbing store. I don't know if they have the plastic barbs tho. Plastic is recommended because you can strip out pump threads with metal barbs. Another option is an adapter. 1/2 to...
Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification
I do have about 15 hours of computer study at college.
Total College Hours:
175
Total Required By Institution To Graduate:
128
I somehow crammed it all into 4 1/2 years.
I guess so... the spiral block is 25 bucks but heck the mounting plate will put it up in prices with the other stuff.
On the heatercore fro Autozone.. do I NEED barbs? I don't think I can attach them if I do.. might be better off buying them already attached from the net.. but the price goes...
Hey!
I'm going to start watercoolign again and I'm curious if I MUST use a block designed for the Athlon64 because they are pretty pricy.
I want to keep the whole setup under 120 bucks so I was thinking of the following
Via Aqua 1300 - 25 shipped
Heatercore 86 chevette - 20 at autozone...
Don't buy kits...
They are put together and usually overpriced for what you get.
Buy a used aquarium pump like the eheim 1250. and find a used water block for the cpu... overclockers forums might have a few for sale.. or in anandtech.
Then you have to decide.. should you go 3/8 or 1/2"...
I thought this place would be the best to list because it is 'off topic' and this is an inquiry what 'what would you do'.
I have gathered up all the extra stuff I have and have put it in a box to sell. How much would be a fair price for all this stuff?
Computer Hardware/Accessories...
I'm just curious what exactly 'Turbo' mode in bios does? It does some invisible settings that affect the ram and other devices. In my old kt266a board the movies inside C&C Generals would skip and lag if I had the bios in 'normal' mode but if I put it in turbo the movies ran smooth but my...
Man I hate reading posts like these...
I bought my 9800Pro from newegg on 9/16/2003 for $310 shipped.
man what a great card - works well with my athlon64 system
They MIGHT be in the 150 range by the end of summer.
I'll need a X800XT by then.. lol naaa I need to stop playing games.
Problem is fixed
Running the ram at the following specs
2.5v
400mhz
Ran memtest86 for 3 hours.. no errors. Sexiness :)
The problem was that I had the bios set to 'turbo' mode instead of default or normal.
I got my parts in yesterday and slapped my system together...
Motherboard Aopen AK86-L
CPU Athlon 64 3000+
Memory Mushkin Green Label Ram PC3200 2-512mb sticks
Vid Card Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb w/heatpipe & 80mm fan
Well everything installed okay...
I have two cars. One gets 30 mpg.. the other gets 35mpg. 3 cyl and 4 cyl. Personally I don't mind having a car that uses less gas... even though people call it a skating shoe with an engine.
I remember buying gas at 1.29 not long ago and spending 10.50 to fill up my tank. Now it costs...
Hrmmm these are the same drives that you put in a freezer?
I'd say that VOIDED the warrantee.
Link
If you do decide to turn them in they might find moisture in the drive. No telling tho.
They have things better to do than look at your pr0n collection if that's what it is worrying you.
I took apart my keyboard when dr pepper was spilled on it. popped off all the keys.... took apart the two sides of keyboard (top bottom) saved all the little 'bubbles' for the keys to push down to complete circuit. Then I took out the controller and took apart the clear circuitry sheets...
yeah... currently is it 800mhz up.. 800mhz down... I just list the single stream.. not up + down. So it would be 2 ghz total ht.. but it actually only goes 1 ghz up.. 1 ghz down.
The non pro does 800 up and 800 down.
Yes this board is the K8T800 Pro chipset.
No it does not have PCI/AGP lock available in the bios. We think they can fix this issue in the bios but there is no word yet from Abit when or if they will fix the problem. They just slapped the board together without exploiting all the benefits of...
Registered Ram is a bit more expensive and is sometimes refered to as error correcting ram. Should be fine with that ram. Generally speaking the registered modules are used in the 940 socket of the AMD segment because it is required to run dual channel memory. Sure it increases your bandwidth...
I recommend the 3000 a64 processor. Good value ... price vs performance. The aopen board.. ak86-l .. looks like a great deal. I'm seriously considering the same combo over the chaintech.. simply because I don't want to spend over 100 for a good motherboard.
I'm also looking at the kingston...
I thought the following was true of A64 processors:
2800 - 512 l2 cache 1.83 ghz
3000 - 512 l2 cache 2.00 ghz
3200 - 1mb l2 cache 2.00 ghz
Just from what I remember.. I could be wrong tho.
The 3000 is almost identical to the 3200 in terms of performance... the cache doesn't really do...
Thanks ScrapSilicon. I went to the chaintech website... mobos... supported ram... it brought up a picture of a floppy disk and had the motherboard model in it. clicked on it and got nothing.
This link did work but I didn't have the language packs installed to view everything correctly :)
Think about this...
PS2 would not exist if it wasn't for Nintendo.
Nintendo talked with Sony to make a Disc Playing System... then they dumped them off the project... so what did Sony do? Keep working on it and released the PS1.
But personally I'd go with the PS2... But you gotta think...
I've decided to buy the Chaintech - ZNF3-150 motherboard and I'm concerned about my ram compatibility.
The chaintech website does NOT show what ram is 'compatible' because the link is dead.
So I've seen this type:
Kingmax 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3500 - OEM
Specification
Manufacturer: Kingmax...
What if...
Intel realized that you can't beat ram latency with bandwidth... look at AMD.
I have been building AMD's for a while but I'm not a diehard fanboy... AMD has done one thing on their own and not copy Intel - Build the memory controller into the CPU.
:D
