Update! 1. I bought new, shielded UTP cables and 3,5mm stereo jack cables. Nothing worked, still the same crackling :( 2. But I finally found the real culprit: when I unplug BOTH my speaker's (AudioEngine A5+) power cable and my subwoofer's (AudioEngine S8) power cable, and plug them in...

I'll see if I can try that. I ordered shielded utp cables and a shielded audio jack cable, fingers crossed :) Update: powering the speakers using another outlet on the other side of the room didn't do a thing.

Thx for the advice. I have a similar value in that reg key (ProviderOrder: RDPNP,LanmanWorkstation,webclient) I tried changing it anyway, but it doesn't work. I can't believe how this is possible. As you can see, Windows recongnizes my NAS (ix4-300) both as media device and 'other' device...

After finally (120h on Steam timer) finishing Divinity Original Sin last night (great great great RPG!!!), it's time for something new. Not an RPG for a change, and preferably a bit shorter. A single player game, maybe something with a good story. And not too old. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the response. So I guess I should try some other memory sticks and see if the problems persists. Is there a way to differentiate between CPU and memory errors, besides from replacing one or the other? I'll do the CRC test tonight when I come home.

I was looking through the manual yesterday and I wanted to try the SATA ports of the Drive XPert function when I noticed I was mistaken; my other PC has the Asus P5Q-E motherboard, this one has the Asus P5E motherboard which has only the 6 regular SATA ports. Sorry!

Thanks for the answer. I already checked my RAM with Windows Memtest 4.0 (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Memory-Tweak/MemTest.shtml) and it gave me no errors (checked 100% of RAM for 1h). But maybe I should try Memtest86 tonight.

I ran the Vista malware tool and the scan from Comodo firewall. Plus I reinstall my OS every so many months, and the problems originate from before the last HD format. But thanks, I'll try a brand new Vista install later today to see if it helps.
