    I'm looking for an app that can replace the Windows command-prompt. something I can right-click/cut-paste in and possibly other convenient features. - kinda like Textpad is to Notepad as _______ is to the Windows command-prompt in terms of convenience. - anyone have any ideas?

    if you have another machine see if you can mount the drive as a secondary and run diagnostics on the bad drive - you may just have a few bad sectors causing the bsod. chkdsk may take care that -- good luck

    I'll 3rd or 4th the vote for reformattin' that bad-boy.. once a machine is that inundated w/ garbage it'll never be the same. to "fix" it is prolly gonna take you twice as long as if you just start over and in the end it likely won't be "fixed".

    Your config is exactly like mine down to the D-Link router. The only thing different is the torrent usage (I never touch the stuff). Since I've never been in your situation I'm guessing the torrent use may be the culprit.

    By "memory" I mean when you've sent an email to someone the next time you want to send again all you need to do is enter the first letter or 2 of their address/name and the auto-fill will give you the choice to pick. I just switched machines and now have to re-enter everyone's name/address...

    That's spyware. Try SpyBot as well as Adaware and make sure both are updated before launching. Hopefully that will get rid of the pop-ups but it seems like they're getting increasingly hard to get rid of save for reimaging the machine. Good luck.
