If they are telling you you have an invalid CD key. Then you will not be able to install SP2 either. Get a valid CD key then you will be O.K. Do a google for changing the CD key without reinstalling. If you don't know how to use illegal software then it is best to leave it alone.

Yes it looks like you have it in a nutshell! It is a gamble... They say it is only 12 dollars US 22 international but actually it is the original cost of the 32 bit XP plus the 12 dollars. When you trade up to the 64bit version the license key you gave up will no longer activate.

I think the OS2 setting he is refering to in the BIOS is the one that is in a lot of BIOS wher you can select NON OS2 or OS2 with greater than 64 MB of RAM. This should not prevent the system from booting with either setting. I just tried it on my wifes computer, boots fine either way.

The name of the file gives it away "intelppm.sys" is a processor driver for an Intel processor, therefore it is obvious why the AMD processor machines are puking on it.
