This one was sold by amazon (I confirmed with them). I ended up ordering from BH Photo, but then Amazon wouldn't let me cancel my order. So now I have two incoming video cards (amazon one shipped late last night, arriving today, and the BH Photo one arrives tomorrow).
So, I'll return or sell...
I've been trying to find that - the seller seems to change often. I can't see who it was originally in the order information (could have sworn it was Amazon directly).
I've ordered one in-stock from B&H Photo in the meantime, and I'll likely cancel the Amazon order assuming the B&H one ships...
I ordered a EVGA 1080 TI on the 10th (it's now the 17th). I went into it knowing I wouldn't get the card as quick as usual (~2 days with a Prime account). It said it not arrive until this week from the get-go.
Specifically, Amazon said it would arrive by today. I've been suspicious about that...
Here's a super tentative and definitely over-budget build (that SSD kills me!)

Any thoughts/recommendations on where to save some cash (ram!?) is appreciated, along with recommendations for:
PSU
Cooler + case that will fit...
Thanks all!
Man a 2TB Samsung 960 NVMe is $1200 alone.... (right?). 1TB at $600 is..uh..more "reasonable". That's a lot of cash on a drive!
If I get a 1080TI GIGABYTE AORUS, how much power in the PSU would you recommend?
I'm most stuck on the motherboard - hoping for a good quality one to overclock a bit (likely won't push the OC too much thought).
PCPart Picker has a nice list compatible with 8th gen i7's: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/?compatible_with=sxDzK8
Anyone have an opinion on a...
I've kept my eye on PCPart Picker's "Magnificent Intel" build for some time. Right now it's recommending a the i5-8600K.
However, I have some cash to spare, and am looking to base off that build and add/improve to:
i7-8700K (+ motherboard)
*maybe* 32GB RAM
1tb SSD
Based on those updates...
I'm not sure where the best place to look for a TV is anymore, it's been too long!
I'm looking for a 55", preferably 4k tv but it doesn't have to be. The TCL of course looks good based on price, but I'm wondering about quality of the television - what are the best quality 4k TV's right now...
Howdy! I check in on this thread once or twice a year to see what might be interesting for a new mid-range build. This resource continues to be awesome!
Are people usually only choosing to buy 8gb of ram still now a days? Or is good ram in a period of higher cost?
What is a good wireless router to grab these days?
I see Amazon still selling WRT54G(L) routers - are they still goo? I remember buying those something like 5 years ago!
Since Linksys is now Cisco, I was wondering on their quality.
Uses:
Web development, general surfing.

I have a shiny new 11" MCA, 8gb ram, i5
I have VMWare Fusion which I used to run Linux servers for web development. I'm considering also running a Macintosh VMWare so that I can keep work thing separate from personal (We don't have any fancy architecture for virtualizing work stations)...
A two-part question (or four part, since there are 4 possible configurations).
I'm wondering what the speed increase might be between the i5 and the i7 on the Macbook Air's. Additionally between the 11" vs the 13" MBAs?
I'm looking into getting the 11" Macbook Air since I'd like something...
What do you guys think of these?
They seem like good deals, but it's hard to find any that are something I want. (There anything sketchy going on for effectively getting free money?)
Has anyone bought these?
I've found weshop.com - For instance...
Gah, didn't know there was a forum for sweeps!
They actually have a "contour bowl" which was made to fit your lap to prevent slipping. (The bowl shape has definitely made it slip out of my lap before lol )
I personally like the action / general playability of their celebrities a lot...
I don't normally whore out marketing (because who likes to listen to that trash? :P ), but we just launched a contest for ovationguitars.com.
If you submit a video of a short guitar tutorial, you can get a chance to win an ovation guitar (grand prize is a $5k custom guitar)...
don't forget to change passwords. and make sure you dont have one of those viruses that steal FTP info from your FTP clients. They sucks, and are very viral on developers machines because of how much FTP info is typically on them.
Paying for texting has always been a scam. It's technical different from 'data' as it uses the same thing as voice while email/apps/internet/whatever will use Edge or 3g or whatever your phone is equipped to handle. Basically you've always paid for a few extra bits of voice data. Total scam. (At...
can you show us the site? I'm not sure what the issue exactly is. There are alternatives to query_posts()
If this is the function I'm thinking of, you can actually only use it once per request.
You can just have ajax make a call to a script on your server which connects to an other service. For instance in PHP, you can use cURL or some other HTTP client.
Obviously I don't know the details of your cross domain issues, but it's usually not an issue when "talking" to third party...

you'll get a 500 internal server error if the path to your .htpasswd file is incorrect (after entering in the password the first time).
I hereby begin the "i hat happypuppy" religion. although there's only one of me. If I have a split personality, have I created a religion? Can I go around creating my own religions as I please?
Inquiring minds would like to know.
we could circle the sun with solar panels. if we need more energy, we just increase the radius of the circle of solar panels to fit in more panels.

The bigger question is whether or not to buy a backwards compatible PS3. I chose to find a backwards compatible on rather than the newest which is quieter and (i think) has some other improvements as well.
