Bumping this thread. i've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why my desktop wouldn't sleep. Event viewer was only showing a sleep state error. Closing Magician before sleeping fixes the immediate wakeup problem, and my 840 Pro doesn't seem to have any problem returning from sleep.
My MX Revo is dying a slow death after 5 years of faithful service. Charging is a chore and the transmitter range is ~1.5 feet for some reason. At any rate, the obvious replacement would be a Performance MX, but i'm pretty disappointed that they cut down the number of buttons. I'm a casual...
That is certainly true, however there is so much more than just their desktop environment to consider, unless they think there is really that little of their user-base that cares about "3rd party" apps. Which now that i think about it, is probably true.
Nevertheless, unless they come up with...
Wow, little jaded, aren't we? Not really suited for gaming? Are you serious? The 5850 is also twice the price of the GTS450...
I just ordered one. It's a great deal. They are also great overclockers. Pretty tough to argue @ $80.
Nah, you're not going to see any difference, especially with 16gb. probably better off just keeping the voltage down. Furthermore, since you've got 4 DIMMS, things can get even even more tricky when you start tweaking. Then again, can't hurt anything to fiddle with it if you're in a fiddlin'...
oooo been a long time since i've played with winamp. thanks for the response. The issue the OP is having is certainly weird...but i've got wmp tweaked for FLAC and some enhanced tag support, and deviantart has a pretty decent selection of themes to do away with that gawd-awful bright...
Oh i agree, VLC has always been my player of choice for video. I have just yet to find another program that, despite its quirks, is as simple and functional for plain old music library playback as WMP. I'm certainly open to suggestions! It's probably been a year since i revisited mediamonkey...
I probably should have added a caveat to my previous statement, being that if you look for problems, you're going to find them. Everywhere. I don't even own an SSD, so i'm just calling it as i see it...but that cuts both ways.
Regardless of what anyone's fanboy affiliations may be, i don't think anyone here can deny the reputation OCZ has versus that of Intel in the SSD arena.
Right, as i understand it you won't get TRIM per se, but you will have GC. That being said, i agree the real world benefit wouldn't really be realized unless you have a specific extremely IO dependent task or you're serving large amounts of data to more than a local machine.
edit: groberts...
i seem to recall a command i used many years ago from the XP recovery console, something like "fix MBR" or "fix MFT."
relevant as well, maybe what you need: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Advanced_NTFS_Boot_and_MFT_Repair
Before last week, it had been almost a year since i had been on AT. it's hilarious that TweakBoy's reputation is exactly the same. At least he's tenacious.
I think it can be a little deceptive-or we just don't realize-how much system performance is affected by IO. I guess it depends on your usage too. My system is always on, but i'm constantly closing and opening any of probably 15 different programs. I've been revisiting the SSD idea over the...
I haven't been on AT in forever, but i'm about to purchase and SSD and i'm reading up. Am i correct in that the C300 issue only effects the P67 and possibly X58 chipsets?
Also looks like there is a fair bit of hate around here for the V2, etc...which is tough because it's $180 AR on teh egg...
