I complained through their website, but they don't let you return anything unless you try it and it doesn't work. I tried it and it works, but I'm sure its life has been shortened, and these drives don't have a reputation for long life to begin with.

Lost Coast comes free with HL2, and is really just a demo. But if you don't have HL2, this would be a good way to see what it's like. Compared to the claustrophobic Id games like Doom 3 and Quake 4.... well, there's no comparison.
