Question about fan placement..

I'd put the 2 in the front as intake, 2 rear as exhaust, the window intake, and the top exhaust (since hot air tends to rise).

lan playable card games

I'm sorry, but I just had to ask. Why not use real cards? Unfortunately I don't know of any card games that can be played via LAN.

What resolution has the same ratio as 1024x768?

I think you better get your facts straight... refresh rate is not always higher with less pixels. More standard resolutions have higher refresh rates. For example, take any tool that detects maximum refresh rates (like this) and compare the refresh rates and resolutions. In the screen shot on...

Best water cooling setup, EVER

AIM recommendation

Hmm, I use GAIM for strictly AIM. It's pretty good, so try it out before you look elsewhere. =P

Just installed new SLK948u - please check temps

50C seems pretty high for the slk948u combined with a Tornado... and you're not even overclocking, correct? However 50C definitely is an acceptable temperature.

SBC started charging me $60 instead of $40

Yeah... I can't say much for their customer support, but the actual quality of DSL has been excellent. Can you really beat up to 3mbps down/384 up for $37 a month? :) Signed up for another year.

For those of you that played at the LAN centers... any thoughts on how well it runs? I know I'm gonna love the new graphics, but I will definitely miss 100fps. :(

Arctic Silver 5 Premium Silver Polysynthetic Thermal Compound Good?

People seem to like Ceramique a lot as well, you should be ok with either (though AS5 might perform a little better than Ceramique). Ceramique is not conductive so it is safer than AS5.

Azureus/BitTorrent Problem

Azureus creates a folder in your documents and settings/<user>/application data directory I believe. If you want to completely uninstall you should delete that folder as well.

Cable Modem Drop outs when downloading with Bittorrents

OC My 9800 Pro?

ATITool has that functionality built in. It is able to detect when you're entering a 3D application, and when it does it uses the profile that you specified for 3D applications, then reverts back to the 2D profile when you exit the game.

Is this gonna be loud?

If you're not want of those people that wants a completely silent system, I think it should be fine. I have a 38dB panaflo and I don't find it too loud at all.

Doom3 -- Capped at 60 FPS?

People who say they can't tell the difference between 60fps and 100fps are probably not hardcore FPS gamers. Frames per second makes a huge difference when you're turning. Say you turn 180 degrees in one second. The extra 40 frames during that turn makes it a lot smoother. I never understood...

whats a decent overclock for "cheap" pc3200

I have OCZ Premier at 217x11.5 right now. I think I've had it as high as 220. You probably want to try high voltage for the CPU... Hitting 2.5Ghz usually requires 1.75V or more.

Hmm, maybe at the end of the game they tell you how many you found out of how many possible. :) Maybe the last difficulty level is only unlocked if you find all of them! (I hope not). :D

5% increase in performance is not worth 30% increase in price. either get the 9800 pro 128MB or go for a low end 6800

Doom 3 = disappointment

Maybe I stand alone... but I've been missing this old style of gameplay for a while now. I want my shotgun/chaingun/rocket launcher (well I haven't actually found this yet so I can't confirm its existence), I don't want to drive around in vehicles, I don't want to use real guns like in Far Cry...

QUAKE 4 ANYONE?

I have to say Quake 2 was my favorite Quake so far. As far as I know, Quake 3 destroyed the Quake 2 community (probably with the help of Counter-Strike), but it was never able to replace it. Quake 3 never had a good replacement for Quake 2 CTF, my favorite mod of all time.

Good multiple desktop program for Windows XP

LOL. My friend is a linux user as well, but he is always rebooting to Windows to play games. I game pretty regularly so I'd rather not switch back and forth between 2 operating systems. :)

ATItool accuracy

I think I did fry my card with ATI Tool. I even had a VGA silencer on it too... but it started artifacting at stock. Had to get it replaced. :( Maybe just bad luck? A lot of people seem to have good experiences with ATI tool.

heatsink?

That means it's just a heatsink and it does not come with a fan. Basically you can pick whatever fan you want that fits on it. You'd probably want a fan that pushes a decent amount of air if you're overclocking.

9800 Pro 128 or 256?

Eh... $70 for an extra 3fps is not worth it. Either stay with the 128MB or spend a little extra for the 6800.
