I just made a clean install of Windows XP Pro on my new computer but I am having a lot of problems. First, I constantly get random blue screen errors and fatal errors. I cannot track down the source of these errors, but do you have any ideas?

I installed the ATI Multimedia Center from my ATI Catalyst CD, and they were installed successfully but when I restart my computer it says that the Multimedia Center may not have been installed, but it is in the Start menu. Is there a fix / way to turn it off?

I recently installed Windows XP Pro and after that I installed Call of Duty. I installed all the ATI Catalyst drivers from the CD that came with my video card, and when I first started to play CoD I got about 1 minute into the game and then the game just quit. I tried to restart my computer...

Windows XP Pro on Maxtor HD

I tried to reinstall XP Pro with only one memory stick in and then when XP restarted I got an error that said "error loading operating system" and I cannot get back to the Windows XP Setup. What can I do to fix this?

I took the computer down to a tech support store and they said everything checked out to be ok except the motherboard, so I RMAed that and the computer worked fine after that so I don' think that its a hardware problem.

I just checked the HCL(Hardware Compatibility List) for Windows XP Pro and it turns out that the 6Y200MO is not on the list, which is my hard drive. Do you think that this is the problem?

Also, would it be a good idea to go to BestBuy or something and buy a new small hard drive to see if Windows would install on that hard drive? Then I would know if it was a bad hard drive or not. If I get the same error could I just return the hard drive back to BestBuy for a refund? I'm not...

I will test this tomorrow morning when I am not as pissed off. 2 RMAs, countless drivers and BIOS updates, and now this. This is turning out to be a horrible experience for building a computer for the first time. I doubt that I will be doing this ever again.

Ok, I restarted and I got a DIFFERENT message. It started to install devices in the 5 task screen, then after a short while I got an error saying that the software didn't pass the Windows Logo test or something like that. This computer has a mind of its own.

I have the K8V SE Deluxe motherboard and an AMD 64 3200+. A while ago I installed everything and got a "System Failed CPU Test" audible warning, so I sent the chip back and got a new one. I installed it about 5 minutes ago and I am getting the same message with a brand new chip. Any suggestions?

So run makedisk and I will be fine? It copies everything in the folder to the floppy, including drivers for all the other OS. Will this not allow Windows XP Pro to recognize the drivers?

Ok, the CD and ASUS' website both have the same drivers. Do I copy the whole file to the floppy drive, or just the WinXP folder? Also, what is the MakeDisk.exe for?
