ati tv wonder crashes

I've never had any video card except this Radeon 7000 in the machine. I will give what you suggest a try. I'll be back to report the good/bad news :)

Oops, freudian slip... I also take back what I said. I could be doing nothing but watching tv and it will crash my comp randomly. I just wish I could watch tv in peace!

No I haven't. I'm also having the problem that whenever I use my tv the computer is completely unstable and almost always will end up blue screening or causing some sort of memory error before restarting the whole system. This is actually the more disturbing of my problems :)

I tried that. 9.2 is even worse! The sound is horrible, and I stil have the crashing problem.

When I power up, the boot screen (that says a7n8x-e deluxe and is sorta green) RARELY is not screwed up. It flickers and is illegible. Any ideas??

I tried. Pretty much, if the TV is on at all my computer is completely unstable and 80% of the time it will blue screen and restart. I'm using the newest multimedia center (9.02). I have no clue what to do.

The video card is the Radeon 7000... pretty embarressing, I know. Which driver are you talking about? There are several installed with the tv card.

Starting about a week or so ago, I pretty much can't run any application at the same time as the tv application. I get a quick bluescreen and the system restarts. I tried updating the software but that caused problems on its own, and I ended up having to do a system restore. any ideas??

which cpu with my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe?

I also just ordered a 430w thermaltake power supply. I've gone without a computer for a month now. If the power supply nor the cpu are the problem, my foot is going through the monitor.

Okay, this is getting frustrating. I just put in a new motherboard (ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe) with new DDR RAM (Crucial 256MB PC3200). I'm still having the same problem, with the same "bad_pool_caller" BSoD. What now? New CPU? New PS?

I will check the capacitors when I get home from work. If they look fine... what's the next step? I don't know much about the BIOS so I'm not sure I should mess with that. I'm still suspicious of the power supply! Maybe both are bad?

I don't know what kind of RAM it is :( I can't remember offhand. I just checked Crucial's website and it seemed to indicate that I MUST use SDRAM, so I guess you're right :) My budget... hmm. Well I don't want to be spending $150 dollars, that's for sure. I found the A7N8X-X for about $60...

About a year ago I was looking into computer parts and gained an interest in the Asus A7N8X ATX Deluxe mobo. I just now looked at prices and it appears to be under $100? If I have to get a new mobo, I want a reliable one this time :( Anyone have any thoughts on this board or any other?

I'm crossing my fingers that it isnt the mobo :( It's a MSI Turbo LE K7T, less than 4 years old. I think the power supply I have in right now is 300w, but I'm not sure. I'm not really sure what I need, either. Would it hurt to get a 400w or 550w? Now that I think of it, I have no idea how...

When you say "unplug" do you mean to remove them completely from the computer? Also, what exactly are the minimum things that i should keep plugged in when trying to re-install the OS? As of right now, I can't, it gives the BSoD with bad_pool_caller soon after I "ok" the license agreement...
