My dad owns his own business and just had his 7 year old desktop crap out on him. He has requested my help in finding another. All he does is look at appraisal reports, surf the internet, and listen to music on his computer. I know there are more than likely a few threads around...

When I try to get my computer to go to sleep it goes to sleep then wakes immediately. I looked at the event log and it says Wake Source is USB Root Hub

I tried that, the options should be right under pci express but there is nothing there. That is why i am confused.

AMD Cool n Quiet doesn't seem to work on vista because vista supposedly has built in control. However, when I go to use this there are no processor options that show up. Do I have to enable cool n quiet in the bios?
Also if my computer is in sleep and/or hibernate will it still be able to...

still have the "catching up" and i forced v-sync on
catching up also happens with play/pause on recorded content
I figured there were some features and options I needed to play around with to make this work. I use the guide and love it, I was just saying that changing channels does the same thing as pausing and unpasuing live tv in that it has to "catch up"
The line is about 3/4 of the way up the scrren...
The "catching up" still happens on the lcd monitor, but the line is not there. I optimized it for my tv inside VMC and it made it choppy all the time and it was generally worse.
Just installed my TV tuner Hauppage pvr 500 MCE
The picture quality isn't up to what I thought it would be, its just standed definition cable on a 27 inch tv. Occasionally there is a line in the middle of the screen. Is this becuase of refresh rates? How do I fix that?

Well i built the computer in my sig a few years back, and about 6 months ago if wasn't working so I brought it home and used my laptop, now that I am home again I would like to fix it.
I believe the problem is that it was overheating/overheated a few times. The memtest results are all wacky...
