  1. If sportsball is so popular why isnt it pirated?

It's hard to avoid especially if you're a fan. Unless you work from home and sequester yourself from the internet in the days after a big game, you're going to find out what happens. It's not like a movie where it's usually pretty easy to avoid spoilers (and the people who have seen it are...
  2. Do you feel a special attachment to certain electronics?

I thought I was attached to my headphones I got in 2002. One of the first things I bought on Amazon. But then one side stopped working and I bought new ones and they're so much better, I don't miss my old ones at all.
  3. Other tech/hardware forums? Anand seems empty last few years.

Yeah you should check it out. It's basically the reason boards like AnandTech aren't as active anymore. This is my first post here in 3 years. Reddit is a huge site and there are subreddits (forums) for everything. Depends on what you're interested in. If you're interested in computer stuff...
  4. Nexus 5X vs. Moto G (2015)

Meh, just get the cheap one. They're both good phones.
  5. Does it make sense to buy phone released 2 years back !!

I just got a Galaxy S4 and an LG G2, both phones from 2013 with 2 GB of RAM and similar overall specs. Put them both on Ting and I'm happy with them both. They were $130 each. They replaced a pair of 2013 Moto G's that were getting pretty awful (just 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB non-expandable storage)...
  6. Local & FOX News have most trusted coverage according to new Q poll

So are you defending Fox? Or just deflecting? You said yourself they're the most likely to lie; that doesn't excuse MSNBC for making false claims themselves but Fox is even worse.
  7. How do you sell your old phones?

Recently changed providers and I want to sell our old phones. There are a lot of options - Craigslist, Swappa, Glyde, eBay, the FS/T forum here. Not sure what the best option is.
  8. Accuracy in answering questions fully: Google Now 88%, Siri 53%, Cortana 40%

This. I eventually just turned it off entirely because it's so useless. It rarely understands me properly, and even when it does it gets confused because it's too picky about how exactly you have to phrase things. If you use the wrong word, it has no idea what you're asking and defaults to just...
  9. Boost Moto G $60 at Best Buy

You can check the ESN before opening the box, even when you are still in the store, and it will tell you if it can be activated. It's not officially supported according to the Ting website but many people have bought it and activated on Ting without issue, no need to do any shady ESN swapping...
  10. Boost Moto G $60 at Best Buy

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/boost-mo...&skuId=3135008 It's been up since at least Sunday, when I bought mine. This is the Boost Mobile version that can also work with Ting. Sprint network and no LTE, so be aware that you won't get super fast data speeds. It also has just 8 GB of built-in...
  11. New Moto G lands at Best Buy for $179

Best Buy also has the old Moto G for $60. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/boost-mo...&skuId=3135008 Now there are some limitations. It's the non-LTE version and it's meant for Boost Mobile (so it runs on the Sprint network). And it only has 8 GB of storage and no card slot. But if you don't...
  12. Best streaming box (Now a Blogish post)

Hell my parents didn't even bother taking down their dish. They rented their house out a few years ago and the tenants got satellite. When they moved out, DirecTV didn't take their satellite back and now they can hook their TV up to it and get a decent signal. It's really just a hunk of metal on...
  13. Best streaming box (Now a Blogish post)

I haven't used it a ton, but it is useful for music videos (my daughter loves those) and some documentaries that aren't available on Netflix/Amazon. There are a lot of BBC programs on YouTube.
  14. Will android ever be as responsive as iOS?

I think the problem with iOS is the itsy-bitsy touch targets. I have this problem with my wife's iPad Mini all the time. Not only does iOS have really small touch targets, but the target is also placed just under the thing you want to tap, I'm guessing so you can tap things without completely...
  15. Wireless charging - do you use it?

I guess they're just as unreliable... from an end-user perspective, though, as long as they hold up, it's nice not having to worry about the orientation of the cable.
  16. Contract expriing soon, Windows Phone users, would you stay?

I switched away from Android specifically because it was slow and laggy, and Windows Phone has been great for me. Now MS has their head up their ass as far as improving the OS goes, but I think it's fine how it is. Things work, that's enough for me. I'm not a power user. Once you're off...
  17. Why do phones slow down DESPITE hard resets??

I switched from a Galaxy Nexus to a Windows phone for this very reason. I actually went from the GNex to a Lumia 521 (similar dual core CPU, but half the RAM) and it felt significantly faster. I've since upgraded to a Lumia 810, which has 1 GB of RAM, and it's so fast and fluid. I don't ask...
  18. Is Half Life 2 overrated?

The question was "is it overrated?", not "is it good?" Is it a good game? Yes. Has it aged perfectly well? YMMV. I personally find it linear and overly long, a pretty common complaint. But it was at least good for its time, and it did some interesting stuff. Is it overrated? That...
  19. App that will alert me if my normal commute drive has a delay?

You could automatically forward stuff from your primary email account to a "dummy" Gmail account that would then be used for Google Now. But only if you're cool with Google reading all your shit.
  20. Yeah, SC is #49 again....

Doesn't matter, these laws are never enforced.
  21. Apple idiocy? No 3.5mm jack!

Oh, they'll work with non-Beats™ headphones. But new Beats™ will include an identifying chip and offer improved audio quality when connected via the Apple™ Lightning™ BeatsAudio™ port, and will automatically downsample audio played to other headphones.
  22. App that will alert me if my normal commute drive has a delay?

You should just get a flip phone.
  23. Game of Thrones - TV Series (NO BOOK SPOILERS)

She always comments on Jon Snow's ignorance. It's her catch phrase.
  24. Philips Files Lawsuit Against Nintendo, Looking for Wii U Ban in America

I think some lawyers got bored, or maybe one of their kids just hit college age.
  25. Thoughts on Cricket

That's why. I won't dispute your good experiences with Sprint in your area. But a lot of people here got into Sprint a few years ago when they were offering unlimited data for cheaper than Verizon or AT&T. Unfortunately, Sprint's network is bad. It's not bad EVERYWHERE, just in many places. For...
  26. App that will alert me if my normal commute drive has a delay?

Yeah, this was really annoying. You can manually set your home and work locations, why can't you manually set what times you want to get there? I hate having to rely on an unreliable "personal assistant" to figure it out for me, because they're always wrong. Glad you had that experience, but...
  27. Game of Thrones - TV Series (NO BOOK SPOILERS)

You wanna talk about strategy, why did the wildlings try to climb the wall DIRECTLY UNDER where the Night's Watch were defending? They could just hike a mile or two in either direction and climb it far away from the arrows, burning oil, and giant anchor things. And then climb down and attack...
  28. Vacuum cleaner suggestion?

My wife and I are pretty happy with our LG Kompressor canister. Downsides are a short cord and I don't really like the canister aspect, forces you to manage too much stuff at once (sucky-end, canister, and cord) but it does a good job. We also got a $35 Eureka battery operated vacuum on Amazon...
  29. Game of Thrones - TV Series (NO BOOK SPOILERS)

So I'm a bit confused, they said many times that Castle Black only had around 100 men and that all the other fortresses along the wall were abandoned. I believe they also pulled everyone back to Castle Black a while ago and have purposely stayed put even as wildlings raided the surrounding...
  30. The Official E3 2014 thread

Oh okay, well that's cool. I can't remember a racing game that includes the combined track.
  31. The Official E3 2014 thread

Nordschleife is the full track. The short one is the GP track. Unless you're referring to the combined track, which includes both the Nordschleife and the GP course connected together. There also used to be a "southern loop" or Sudschleife that went around the GP course, but it's no longer intact.
  32. The Official E3 2014 thread

    No, tonight:
  33. Wireless charging - do you use it?

I would need to buy a new back cover for $20, then find a supported wireless charging pad for $40-$50. My phone only cost $84. All so I don't have to plug in a cable once per day. No thanks.
  34. Things to do with an ipad?

    FTL is an awesome game.
  35. Latest Madden screens for next gen...Impressive?

Still waiting for them to catch up with their own bullshots for Madden 06...
  36. Which smartphone stand do you prefer?

I have a Kenu Airframe. It mounts to your car's vent and also can serve as a stand if you put a credit card in the gripper area. Works pretty well. I don't use it with a card, I only use it in my car. Don't see the appeal of carrying a stand around.
  37. Need recommendation for good MP3 player for working out, Not Apple or Sansa

I have a Sansa Clip that sat in a gym bag for about three years and when I found it last week, it still powered up and the battery icon indicated that it still had about half battery left. If that's not great battery life I don't know what is. It also has a built in FM radio.
  38. Do phablets fit in pockets

:$ sorry, I had you confused with someone else! Yes, a lot of pockets will fit large phones when you're standing but I'm nervous about sitting down. It's fine for a 4-5" phone, but with my Kindle Fire I can't sit for fear of breaking it. I really only use it if I need to quickly free up a hand.
