Connecting two routers together

I'm pretty sure the settings were incorrect. I didn't change them since I used that router as my primary router. I was under the impression it would "just work" w/o needing to change anything. Please elaborate on what settings I need to use?

Each of those monitors is out of my price range.. and some aren't available from local bix-box retailers (I want to buy from Staples or Bestbuy, for example, because they have a good return/exchange policy.. I will not accept a monitor with any dead pixels)
