Asus k8n-e post problems

I've solved my problem: Bad ram. Why it didn't give me the voice message for a memory error I have no idea. Why it gave me long-short-short, which I thought was a video error, I have no idea. But, I'm installing windows as I write this, so things are looking up :) -Fin

Asus k8n-e post problems

I got all the parts for my new system today, building on an Asus k8n-e motherboard. I've put everything together, but the system will not boot up. Additionally, instead of a voice telling me what the error is. I do get beeps, a series of 1 long and 2 short, repeating indefinately. First off...

First time builder going A64

Thanks for all the input everyone. I'm still inclined to go socket 754, since as you said, to go 939 with all the new hardware goodies will require another motherboard upgrade anyway, and they are significantly more expensive right now. SpikeyNL: I've looked at the MSI K8N Neo Platinum a lot...

Sounds good to me, I'm not planning on overclocking (at least to begin with) so that doesn't sound like much of an issue for me. I've been watching newegg, pondering the buy all day, now I go there ready to buy and they've sold out! *doh* -Fin

I've spent a while now watching as nVidia's nForce3 chipset motherboards hit the market, trying to decide which one to buy. At first I was leaning towards the MSI k8n-neo platinum, but it seems to me that a lot of people have had odd problems with it. Most of them appear to get resloved...

NF3-250Gb boards

I'm trying to decide which motherboard to get for an A64 3200+ Newcastle. Trying to get solid information about the different options has been pretty difficult. I've heard good things about the MSI K8N Neo Platinum, Chaintech VNF3-250, and EPoX EP-8KDA3J. I'm aware of MSI's support forums...
