What PSU for a ton of hard drives but low proc and no video card?

Man that is a really good deal, and I love all the extra pata/sata power ports for extra cables (although I cannot find where you can buy just these regular power cables for cheap... will keep looking), but this system will only take 100-150 watts tops while running, so I would be sooo far...

Do I need to get a modular supply that has many "peripheral" connections listed? I notice some only have one outlet labelled as that. Or is one or more fine and I just keep using splitters to power all the hard drives?

Best case for large server

Ended up getting the Noxonia Deep Silence 5. Thanks a ton for the advice, I almost got the Lian Li but the DS 5 was $150 delivered from Wayfair.com and seemed so well made. Thanks again!

What PSU for a ton of hard drives but low proc and no video card?

Not sure.. it will be running on Windows 2012 R2 essentials with a LSI 9201-16i card for the drives. I dont know if that card has some sort of option for staggered spin up or not.

Ok thanks. Its the 5v rail I need to worry about on hard drive power, right? Do I need to worry about how many sata power cables are on the power supply or just get some sort of expanders?

Is there a consolidated list of optimizations for the G2 x25-m for Win7 somewhere? In this thread it was stated that none are needed for this drive... so leave "everything" at default?

so the real question is... has anyone heard any other news at all about these coming out? Im pretty sure this is the timeframe the original article talked about them launching. Ill try to find that article...was probably from March or so...

yeah I am certainly not very interested in 1 watt savings or fake save the environment issues... just interested in lower voltages supposely being better for overclocked system stability....

I was thinking that the lower voltage would help with the issues of pushing the Core i7 procs and chipsets past 1.65v and the long term stability... if we got high memory clocks and low latency from a 1.35v chip, that would be great. So are we supposed to see products based on the new tech...

There was an article a few months ago on Dailytech about DDR3 manufacturing processes changing and we would all be looking at brand new high speed DDR3 with voltages down in the 1.2 - 1.3 ranges. I havent seen any other news of this. Did I miss it?

Do most "modeern" motherboards have a long post process?

I have a Gigabyte UD3P motherboard and it annoys me how long it takes for the thing to get past the post stage. Nothing is wrong with it, but it just takes time to initialize the sata controller, etc. Do most newer motherboards have to go through this longer process since more and more...

It didnt charge me tax so it was $262.27. Newegg charges me tax though, so this is now cheaper to me than the current Newegg price.

Digital out on laptops

I would like to be able to access all my mp3's, wav's, wma's, etc over 802.11g from my laptop in my home theater. Is there a laptop (preferably Dell) that offers a digital audio out that could bypass any cheap internal DACS in the laptop and go direct digital to my stereo?

requirements for memory interleaving

Dell accidentally put 512 mb ddr2 in my new 8400 . They are sending me an additional 2gb on 1gb sticks. The 512mb is on 256 mb sticks. Can I still use the interleaving feature of the ram if i put the 2 1gb sticks in dimm slots 1 and 3 and the 2 256mb sticks in slots 2 and 4?

I bought a new Dell 8400, and just took the basic 40gb hard drive, and plan on adding a 74gb raptor to install the apps, games on.. question: will splitting the OS onto its own drive in this manner help me out in speed, stability??

I will have 2gb ram in my new 925x system - 3.4 ghz proce.... is this a sufficient amount of ram to justify setting the page file to 0? Or is there no reason to do that? Thoughts?

dual 2.8 xeons or 3.4 p4?

oh - and how would the landscape change if I took the Xeons to 3.4 as well? This adds about 1k to the price of the Xeon rig, so that would have to be a nice performance boost to make it worth it. I wish intel would put the Azalia high definition audio on the tumwater chipset for the Xeons.....

What would be the better machine? A dual 800mhz fsb, 2.8ghz Xeon Nocona machine with 2gb ram and pci express ati graphics, OR, the same vid card and ram, except change to a 3.4 P4 that doesnt have the Nocona "improvements" Pci express is important to me so no AMD talk for this one please...

Free Backup utility?

I had to do a full reformat / Wipe to get rid of all my spyware. If I have to do this again, I would like to have some bootable CDs of my system's current state. Is there a free utility that will do this for me? I only have a cd burner, not DVD.

Dual 64bit Xeon's or just 925x?

Price is not a big object at all here - so what would be higher performing - primarily for gaming? I do multitask quite a bit, so having other things running and not affecting my gaming performance would be a nice plus. And dual 3.4ghz Xeons with the new 64 bit extensions - so that is nice...
