Wife needs a new laptop. Need recommendations

My wife needs a new laptop, and we would like some recommendations. Budget ~$800 Used for: Photoshop and basics(e-mail and internet). I'd like her to have a dedicated graphics card and I'm kind of an Intel fanboy. Thanks for your input!

I have an old DFI LANparty UT nf4 Ultra-D in a PC that I recently had to reformat. I believe I need the proper mobo drivers to get the LAN connector to work. I searched on DFIs support page, but I couldn't figure out which download I needed (There's a lot of choices). I'm running winXP. Can...

Disk boot failure? please help.

Neither my SSD or HDD are being recognized in the BIOS, but the optical drive is. I had them both plugged into the 6gb SATA ports, so I tried plugging them into the 3gb ports(which the optical drive uses). still not recognized. could this have something to do with the sandy bridge mobo recalls...

Disk boot failure? please help.

I just put together a new PC today(writing this post on it) and I'm not seeing my stroage drive(Samsung F3) listed in the "My Computer" folder. I installed Win7 on my SSD and wanted to use the F3 for storage. I can see the drive listed in the BIOS and device manager. Any ideas why i might not be...

CD drive not detected

I have an hp pavillion dv9700 laptop, and tried to use my cd drive yesterday and noticed that the icon is missing from "my computer" and it also isn't detected in the device manager. The drive is enabled in BIOS. I last used the cd drive on 12/31/10 and it worked just fine. I have uninstalled...

PWM temperature? What's that?

I tried useing the search function, but nothing came up. Anyway, my question is: What is the PWM? My motherboard shows the temperature for it in the BIOS, and it seems to be getting excessively hot. How can I figure out what this is? Thank you.

Power supply noise

Need help with RAM Timings

Try useing different ram timing profiles rather than changing the individual timings manually. Ex. Optimal, Turbo, etc. I'm not sure if your board has that option, but it might.

How can I caputre live video?

I'm trying to get videos from the internet onto a CD. I can't do the "Save target as" method. How can I go about this? I was thinking of useing some type of software that just records everything I'm doing on the comp than edit the clip to show just the video in the screen. ANy ideas?

Help me choose and LCD

I've been out of the loop for a few months and I'm not sure which LCD's are on top right now. I'm looking for an LCD monitor in the $250-350 price range. What do you suggest? I mostly just play World of Warcraft and surf the internet. I have a BFG 6800GT if that makes any difference. Thank you.

All of thermalrights products are overpriced - $50-60 for a heatsink is just sillyness. So they win all the benchmarks, I'm not trying to win any speed awards, I'll pass. Thank you for the suggestion though.
